News and notes from around the interweb:
- Another ‘Spark by Hilton’ hotel catches fire: A month ago it was the Chattanooga property and now it’s the Spark property in Mystic, Connecticut. If you don’t want your hotels to catch fire, maybe don’t name them ‘spark’?
The fire was initially extinguished by hotel staff using a dry chemical fire extinguisher.
Fire crews located remaining hot spots in the bathroom ceiling, overhauled the area to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, and confirmed it had not spread to the attic.

byu/Southern-Emu2560 indelta - Sara Nelson cuts in line at PreCheck.
To all of the extremely lovely people who let us through the Terminal B precheck line @loganairports, THANK YOU! Would not have made the flight with my kiddo without your kindness. ✈️❤️ We will pay it forward! #HappyLaborDay

- Filthadelphia airport.
- 25% bonus on transfers from Amex Membership Rewards to Hilton through September 23. Meh.
- 30% bonus on transfers from Capital One to Virgin Atlantic through October 1. I didn’t do the 100% bonus from Bilt on Monday… I wouldn’t do this speculatively, but if you happen to need to transfer to Virgin this month a 30% bonus is better than not having a 30% bonus.
Not a fan at all of Sara Nelson, union leader and political activist. But, I’d have no problem letting someone (esp. w/ kid) letting them in front of mebif it helps them catch a flight. If some entitled jerk tried to push forward: that’s different. There is no indication she acted entitled. I see no problem assuming we have all info.
@This comes to mind — Yeah, only the billionaires should be able to cut the line… USA! USA! USA! /s
For real, though, nice attempt at nuance, in a back-handed compliment kinda way (‘I hate this person and everything they stand for, but they have a kid, so they are okay in this limited context, now, back to bashing them…’)
Some of you regularly regurgitate corporate propaganda against organized labor, yet unions are still one of the best ways to improve worker compensation, job security, and improve conditions in many industries, lest we forget.
So, where does this hate come from? Did you have to pay dues once and never understood what they did for you? Did you never get involved in your union, if you even had one? Do you think the unions are gonna make you ‘trans’ or something? Ah! Boogeyman!
And that idiot Nelson tagged a phony taxi company (not Massport) with an intentionally similar twitter handle in her silly tweet. I wouldn’t have her or semendemon through if I were in that line.
Sara Nelson is just ridiculously lacking in self-awareness. I’m not sure whether she simply doesn’t grasp just how bad the optics on this are or if she thinks that she’s somehow entitled to special treatment. Neither choice speaks well of her. I’m surprised that someone who is so obviously detrimental to her office and to the very cause she represents is still the head of the union.
