Presidential campaigns traditionally have planes. But this year Joe Biden is going without one since he won’t leave his basement won’t be traveling much for in-person events during the pandemic.
John McCain’s 2008 campaign flew a Boeing 737, the “Straight Talk Express,” while Sarah Palin was relegated to a regional jet (a JetBlue Embraer ERJ-190). Mitt Romney raffled off time on his campaign jet as a fundraiser. Mike Pence flew in a leased Eastern Airlines Boeing 737.

Naturally President Trump’s 2016 campaign rented his Boeing 757 ‘Trump Force One’, though during the plane he got into some legal thicket with his Cessna (that he extricated himself from by selling the plane.. to himself).
So far Biden’s campaign hasn’t booked any airfare, so figures they don’t need a plane.

- And Biden will be saying Trump events are “gambling with American lives for his own political gain.”
- Yet… he hasn’t actually ruled out getting a plane and doing events later “if individual states change their guidelines.”
Journalists loved ‘hanging with the candidate’ on the McCain plane. And what would we have done without seeing Hillary Clinton on board “Stronger Together” with her feet up on the bulkhead?
When you become President, by the way, you get a much cooler plane.

Biden’s been outside of his home very frequently all summer.
You just don’t see a responsible Biden going out golfing and campaigning this summer like an irresponsible Trump has done. Biden leads by example, as is to be expected of an honorable man of good character.
Sometimes the president flies around in the 757 variant that’s normally used by the VP. I wonder if they get the same feeling as elite fliers do when they’re told they didn’t get an upgrade.

Maybe Kamala Harris will do both the traveling and talking for Joe Biden. Entire nation you too can be like California, but minus the geographic beauty and nice weather of course.
I think a more accurate statement would be to say that he won’t leave his rest home and that Kamala’s duties include speaking for him, traveling for him, and wiping the drool off his chin.

I note the DNC is going to be “zooming” the convention and this may play in their favor. Biden has probably mastered Fortnite while in the basement and is better equipped for this new virtual reality. I keep imagining him yelling at the sump pump when it comes on during a crucial point in the game.
Even when Biden does leave his basement his interactions are so tightly controlled it’s like he is paraded outside to confirm that he is still alive. I guess people are taking Obama’s comment to “Don’t underestimate Biden’s ability to f*#k things up” seriously. I’m betting Harris will do more of the travel since she will be the President anyway.
