London Heathrow’s terminal 1 originally opened in 1968 and a ceremony for the terminal was held in April 1969 with christening by Queen Elizabeth II. It was opened as the largest short haul terminal in Western Europe.
In the 90’s the Europier was added to the terminal supporting widebodies. Then the terminal was renovated in 2005 and the Eastern Extension was added.
