Passengers Revolt On Delayed Air India Flight

On Thursday Air India’s flight AI865 from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed 7 hours prior to finally departing. However while the plane taxied out, it returned to the gate with another issue.

Passengers had had all they could stand, and they couldn’t stands no more. Unfortunately instead of eating spinach they erupted in other, less productive ways. Several went to the cookpit door, threatening to open it with force and demanding the captain show himself.

The confrontation escalated when a passenger grabbed a flight attendant who was attempting to open the aircraft door, back at the gate.

At the behest of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Air India has commenced an investigation into the passenger behavior. It remains to be seen whether the investigation gets completed before the carrier becomes insolvent.

  1. I’ve seriously wondered WHY people in the U.S. haven’t done this lol…you hear horror stories of people being forced to sit on tarmacs for 4, 6 8 or 10 hours, running out of food/drinks, bathrooms overflowing when they should have just put them back at the gate and let them off the damned plane! It is a shock that it took people this long to revolt! I mean, people here get arrested for really crazy stuff all the time on planes, usually a result of crew members with authority highs but sometimes ludicrous passenger behavior…yet none have ever stormed the doors after hours and hours of delays. Amazing…

  2. I assume the Captain isn’t going to jail or is even just going to be reprimanded for trapping/imprisoning people for 7 hours on what is supposed to be a 2 hour flight (gate to gate). Oh, India!

Poeer to the people that they rebelled. Well done. Enough abuse by airlines.

  3. Penny+2. Yes, I’ve wondered myself why here in America we have become such docile sheep.

  4. I can’t wait to see the AI airlines go bankrupt. They have done it to themselves. The worst airlines on the planet.
