Back in May Prince William flew American Airlines coach. It was a bulkhead seat for Memphis – Dallas.
This morning he flew first class onboard the US Airways shuttle to get from New York to DC.
The ABC News article incorrectly indicates he flew from New York’s JFK airport. The shuttle flight originates at LaGuardia.
“Our flight was delayed and a caravan of black suburbans pulled up to the plane. Then the most unexpected guest stepped onto our DC shuttle flight this morning,” wrote Sam Kim in an Instagram post capturing the moment.
Presumably he chose US Airways over Delta for the flight because of his oneworld elite status via British Airways.

Did they have to set down in Baltimore after everyone starting getting sick on the plane.
Gary,
It is amusing to get news about how royals are traveling. US Airways should mark the seat: “Prince sat here..”
Any idea who they flew across the pond? I would have assumed BA in F, but there were photos of Virgin America putting on a big welcome deal for him, so that made me wonder.

@Doug
According to ABC News, British Airways First On Sunday.
I really like that the Royal Family flies commercial. It reflects well on them.
Someday, I hope we get a President’s family who will fly commercial. For security and communications reasons, the President really can’t. But the First Family certainly could. I’d bet it’s worth 3 points in the opinion polls if they did (of course, any Presidential family savvy enough to make this gesture would be popular anyway).
They arrived on BA177
Saw someone being moved through DCA from across the concourse this morning. Was probably him
@iahphx —
President Richard Nixon actually flew a commercial UA flight IAD-LAX (DC10). The plane was renamed as Executive One while he was onboard.
What a surprise, the mainstream media gets something wrong about aviation. Makes you wonder how much of everything else they’re reporting is inaccurate.
Prince William really deserves something better than the crappy US airway shuttle
Neither POTUS nor his family should ever fly commercial. The risks are just enormously stupid for any presidential family, politics aside.
White House just released these transcripts about why William chose US Airways over Presidential Jet!
