After A Year, Earning Miles With Bask Bank Has Proven Out

I first wrote about Bask Bank and the Bask Savings Account at the beginning of 2020. I’ve been saving and earning with them for a year and the mileage-earning strategy has proven-out.

That’s not really a surprise. I’ve been a customer of Bask Bank’s parent, Texas Capital Bank, since July 2003. But it’s great to see that the value proposition has remained constant throughout the past year’s turmoil, and even looks more attractive compared to today’s alternatives.

American Airlines Says They’ll Bring Back Onboard Espresso, But Cups And Brew Pods Are Gone For Now

Apr 12 2021

On Friday American Airlines confirmed they were removing espresso machines from their Airbus A321T, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 aircraft. A spokesperson explained this was intended to “help conserve fuel and prevent confusion about what services are currently offered.”

This decision generated a surprising amount of comment and interest. However American now says that the machines will actually stay. They have removed supplies, but expect the espresso service to eventually return to premium cabins where the machines are offered

Earlier I noted that ex-Royal Prince Harry flew to London for his grandfather’s funeral and made the trip without his wife Meghan Markle.

All of the royal drama aside – his walking away from his title, giving an interview to Oprah where he called his family racists – I thought there could be a bigger scandal in his first trip back to the U.K. in a year.

United and American have spoken out against measures that limit access to voting. American came out against a proposal in Texas they had not read. Delta is against Georgia’s law, after being for it, and after telling employees they helped craft its final form.

Now the CEOs of American Airlines and United have joined a forum of major corporate CEOs concerned about voting rights that was put together just a few days ago.

An Employee Enforced The American Airlines Dress Code. Then The Backlash Came.

Apr 10 2021

A two-time cancer survivor attempted to board an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Charlotte, but was told she wouldn’t be able to fly unless she covered up her yellow hoodie which said “F- cancer.”

An employee enforced the airline’s dress code. The airline is apologizing – saying the employee should have taken context into account. But each employee is likely to see context differently.

American Introduces New First Class Meals On Cross Country Flights

Apr 08 2021

American Airlines has been testing protein boxes in domestic first class as meals which replace their serving the old coach buy on board options front. The airline tells me that next week this expands to non-premium flights over 2200 miles.

In other words premium transcon flights like New York JFK – Los Angeles and San Francisco continue to get hot meals. What’s new is that non-premium transcon flights, longer than Charlotte – Los Angeles like DC – Los Angeles or Miami Seattle, will get ‘Fresh Bites’ instead of the old coach buy on board wrapped sandwiches.

Apr 06 2021

With Alaska Airlines joining the oneworld alliance and continuing to partner more closely with American Airlines, the two airlines have introduced reciprocal elite benefits – the most valuable of which are access for elites to extra legroom seats and upgrades.

As the partnership was being developed, American Airlines Senior Vice President Vasu Raja emphasized the need for a seamless customer experience between the two airlines so “that a customer of either Alaska or American Airlines would choose us over one of our competitors’ long haul services” as a result of upgrades, seat assignments, and other benefits. And yet….
