Department Of Justice Is Ramping Up Its Investigation Of The American Airlines – JetBlue Partnership
The Department of Transportation approved the American Airlines-JetBlue alliance in New York and Boston. Those airlines had to give up takeoff and landing slots in New York, and commit to increase their flying (or lose more slots).
However it’s a new administration and other airlines aren’t happy with the increased competition JetBlue and American will provide. So the Department of Justice is ramping up a probe of the deal, taking another bite at the apple for special interests.
Hyatt Regency Boston No Longer Wants To Be A Hub For Prostitution
The Hyatt Regency Boston has apparently become notorious as a hub for prostitution with “at least 70 incidents involving sex for pay at the hotel over the past six months” according to the Boston police department in a licensing hearing.
In order to minimize future incidents they’ve hired the security director away from the Sheraton Boston and added a second night guard to their staff.
Woman Meets Guy On Dating App, Invites Him Back To The Hyatt, Tases Him
Selena Rivera-Apodaca has been arrested for armed robbery after taking a man up to her room at the Hyatt Regency Boston. The two had met through a dating app, and she invited him to the hotel Tuesday morning. At around 11 a.m. they met in the lobby before making their way upstairs. They ‘spoke’ for half an hour before she “pulled out a taser and started to go through his pockets.”
In my own dating life this would never have happened.
Bypass LaGuardia: Seaplane Service Will Challenge New York-Boston Shuttle
Cape Air won approval to start flights from Boston Harbor to New York City, at East 23rd St. in Manhattan. This is a one year pilot program for four flights a day.
Currently Amtrak is desirable for its downtown-to-downtown service, making up for slow train speeds by avoiding commutes for passengers looking to travel between city centers. This service offers to cut out the airport transit while retaining the speed of flying, though of course is subject to weather more than train travel. The major limitation, however, is frequency.
Boston Is Now A Bigger Hub For American Airlines Than New York JFK
American Airlines has 9 hubs: Dallas Fort-Worth, Chicago O’Hare, Charlotte, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, New York JFK, and Washington National. Given recent service changes perhaps they should drop New York JFK and add Boston.
Delta Has a New Hub City: Boston
The last major airline to add a hub was Delta — at Seattle — in 2014. Now Delta, which has been building its presence in Boston and taking on JetBlue there, has declared that city to be a hub. Although with 150 peak day departures I see Boston more as a ‘hublet’.
