A family’s Alaska cruise was effectively over before it began after a delayed Delta flight out of Detroit caused them to miss the only Minneapolis–Vancouver connection that could reach the ship on time.

Delta rebooked them to try to save the trip, but the replacement flight didn’t pan out, and once the cruise sailed there was no “meet it at the next stop” option, because a 19th-century U.S. maritime law prevents cruise ships from carrying passengers between U.S. ports.

Royal Caribbean Delays Return Of Odyssey of the Seas Due To Covid Outbreak Among Crew

I don’t think most people who are vaccinated with one of the mRNA vaccines in widest use in the United States have too much to fear from Covid-19, and shouldn’t be overly concerned about catching the virus on a cruise ship. However I still don’t think it’s a good idea to cruise now, even if you’re vaccinated.

That’s because other people might catch the virus, and you might be forced to quarantine. Or worse yet, your ship might not be able to dock. I’d want greater certainty that a cruise is going to end according to its published itinerary before recommending a return to sailing.

What the Boston Red Sox Ate On Board Their Luxurious Private Jet to London

The Crystal Boeing 777-200, from the same company as Crystal Cruises, is an especially luxurious private jumbo jet. It seats just 88 passengers in business class in a flat 2-2-2 configuration, and features a wow-factor bar and dining area.

The Boston Red Sox charted this plane to get to London where they’ll play the New York Yankees this weekend.
