Emirates A380 May Have Flown 13 Hours With A Hole In Its Fuselage

A three year old Emirates Airbus A380 from Dubai to Brisbane may have flown for 13 hours with a hole in its fuselage.

Flight EK430 took off from Dubai International Airport and that may be the point at which the aircraft received damage. However it wasn’t until approach into Brisbane that flight crew advised air traffic control that they suspected “they blew a tyre on takeoff” and asked for emergency response services to on standby as they arrived.

The Safety Lesson From Viral Videos Of Yesterday’s Dramatic Landing Gear Collapse In Miami

On Tuesday Dominican low cost carrier Red Air had a landing gear collapse on arrival in Miami. The McDonnell Douglas MD-82 operating flight L5-203 from Santo Domingo with 126 people on board “came to a stand still off the runway with a fire developing at the right hand wing, where a fuel spill occurred.” Three people were hospitalized from minor injuries during the evacuation.

Chilling Air Traffic Control Audio As Boeing 777 Won’t Respond To Controls While Landing In Paris

Air France flight 11 from New York JFK to Paris had alarm sounds in the cockpit and one of the pilots called out “Stop! Stop!” several times on Tuesday morning as it descended through 1500 feet on final approach.

The 17 year old Boeing 777-300 reportedly did not respond to commands. The crew managed to execute a go around as it hit 1150 feet, after veering significantly to the left.

An Emirates Flight Nearly Crashed On Departure From Dubai – Then Flew All The Way To Washington

Last week Emirates flight EK-231 from Dubai to Washington Dulles “was accelerating for takeoff from Dubai’s runway 30R when the aircraft rotated for takeoff past the end of the runway” and the Boeing 777-300 (registration A6-EQI) continued anyway – all the way to DC. It even flew back to Dubai as scheduled, but the aircraft was then grounded for four days after it returned. The FAA is investigating.

Hero Pilots Save Horror Flight That May Have Been De-Iced With Counterfeit Fluid

oneworld airline S7 Siberian Airlines flight 5220 from Magadan to Novosibirsk declared a mayday while climbing out on departure ” due to unreliable airspeed and related problems with autopilot and autothrust.”

The Airbus A321 had 192 passengers and 7 crew on board and tried to return to Magadan twice but severe icing prevented them from doing so. They flew four and a half hours to divert to Irkutsk.

In Midst Of Heightened Tensions Boeing 737 Crashes In Iran

Ukraine International Airlines flight PS753 from Tehran to Kiev crashed into an open field in a Tehran suburb minutes after departure. The three year old Boeing 737-800 with 176 souls on board ceased broadcasting from its transponder as it climbed through 8000 feet.

Several Iranian sources and a Dubai-based news agency reported the cause as an accidental missile strike although it is too early to offer any conclusions. Initial reporting on such incidents is often wrong.

Major Plane Crash In Kazakhstan With Several Dead and Critically Injured

Bek Air flight Z9-2100 from Almaty to Astana, a domestic flight within Kazakhstan operated by a Fokker 100 with reports alternately of 93 and 95 passengers on board along with 5 crew, crashed shortly after takeoff. It was unable to climb, hit the ground, and broke through a concrete wall before hitting a building. The Fokker jet broke into multiple pieces.

Twelve people are reported to have perished including the captain of the flight. Sixty six people suffered critical injuries (22 of which are ‘extremely critical’). These numbers may worsen.

Video From Inside American Eagle AA4125 As It Skids Off the Runway at O’Hare

Weather at Chicago O’Hare is a mess today, with hundreds of flights cancelled. One flight that was supposed to make it in on time was American Eagle flight AA4125 from Greensboro, North Carolina. The Embraer ERJ-145 had pushed back six minutes early.

Thirty eight passengers and 3 crew were on board. The plane touched down on O’Hare’s runway 10L at 7:40 a.m. local time, which would have put it into its gate about 10 minutes late. However the regional jet skidded left off the runway.

Boeing 737 Pilot Decided to Keep Flying 800 Miles After Losing an Engine

Back on August 22, a Smartwings Boeing 737-800 took off from Samos, Greece. Flight QS1125 was headed to Prague with 170 people on board. About 100 nautical miles northeast of Athens the aircraft’s left engine shut down while at 36,000 feet.

The crew tried to restart the engine while descending to 24,000 feet. The engine wouldn’t restart. The captain decided not to declare an emergency.
