Lufthansa’s ground staff union will strike Wednesday and Thursday. The airline estimates that they will only be able to operate 10% – 20% of flights on Wednesday, and has not provided an estimate for Thursday.
A Lufthansa Airbus A340 widebody had its tow bar separate from the aircraft while pushing back from the gate in Munich, Germany. The tug loses control of the plane, and the pilots are rolling backward – unable to see behind them.
The 27-year-old woman “undressed completely” prior to pushback on Friday and “screamed loudly.” The incident was enough to trigger both federal and state police, who tried to put a blanket over her. It was her nakedness, rather than unruliness, that appeared to be their response priority.
Lufthansa’s flight from Austin to Frankfurt hit severe turbulence on Wednesday, diverting to Washington Dulles airport and sending seven passengers to the hospital.

When Lufthansa first started teasing their new first class product, it didn’t look especially impressive. Details began leaking out that suggested it was going to be very nice and indeed they’re out with a lot more information now and it looks awesome.
However new first class will be on some of their Airbus A350s, and those that have it will offer just a single row of three seats. Do not plan on flying this with your points.
In 2019 Lufthansa abruptly terminated the ability to transfer points from Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and others into Miles & More. That made it tough for Americans to get their points. For most, it meant you’d need to spend on a Barclays-issued co-brand Miles & More credit card, or credit flights to Lufthansa’s frequent flyer program.
The explanation at the time was that German law made it impossible for them to continue allowing. Germany’s Payment Services Supervision Act was being interpreted to count a mileage transfer as a payment service which requires registration, government supervision, and “strong customer authentication” among other requirements.
In March I wrote to expect Lufthansa to introduce a new first and business class product next year and that first class would be suites with doors initially on the airline’s 10 new Airbus A350-900 aircraft to be based in Munich.
