Keeping Miles from Expiring With Newspaper and Magazine Subscriptions

When your miles are expiring there are plenty of ways to extend them, depending on the program. In general programs let you extend your miles by earning miles in an account or by redeeming miles.

I frequently use Magazines for Miles to keep family member accounts alive without spending any money. I had forgotten there’s a newspaper redemption option, too. And there are some options I’m finding useful on their own merits, not just to deal with expiring miles.

Singapore Airlines Non-Stop Premium Economy Less Than $900 Roundtrip

You can fly non-stop between the U.S. and Singapore in premium economy for just $890 roundtrip. That’s an incredible fare in my opinion. In fact coach is often more expensive than that.

This is available on Singapore’s non-stop Los Angeles – Singapore service, which offers just premium economy and business class. Book by April 11 for outbound travel April 1 – June 9, or after July 16. Your trip must be complete by November 30 and last at least 7 days.

Singapore Airlines Devalues Their Star Alliance Award Chart Effective April 19

The KrisFlyer program raised Singapore Airlines award prices again at the beginning of 2019 with about three weeks’ notice. Again they created the window where Star Alliance awards could be cheaper (albeit with fuel surcharges) and again offering a window of savings to throw away a partner flight segment at the end of a one way award booking.

That’s a pretty good indication that things wouldn’t last — that the Star Alliance award chart would be devalued too.
