The American Airlines flight attendants union took a boot to the throats of all ex-TWA flight attendants when that airline was acquired by American in 2001.

Major Marriott & Hilton Owner Wants To Make Lodging Like Ultra Low Cost Airlines
The owner of the TWA hotel is MCR Hotels, the fourth largest hotel ownership group in the country spanning 125 properties in 34 states including Marriotts, Hiltons and IHG hotels.
Its CEO declares that hotels need to move to an a la carte pricing model, based on the success of ultra low cost airlines like Allegiant, Spirit, VivaAerobus, and Wizz Air.
20 Years After The Merger, TWA Pilots Lose Lawsuit Against American Airlines (And Their Own Union)
American Airlines acquired TWA in 2001. And since then former TWA employees have felt like they’ve gotten the short end of the stick. The most recent case involves ex-TWA pilots suing both American Airlines and its pilots union arguing that they conspired to strip these pilots of their senior in the airline’s 2011 bankruptcy. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit threw out the suit.
