A United Airlines passenger is shown in a video surreptitiously vaping during a flight, and then exhaling water vapor. Another passenger on board who videotaped the incident shared that it was brought to the flight attendants, who “completely dismissed it.”
Children are allowed in business and first class because airlines want to sell tickets. Families buy more than one ticket at a time! While airlines promote buying up to a premium cabin for rest, they don’t promote the product you’re buying as child-free. And as a business or first class passenger you don’t have a moral claim to inflict the screaming on other passengers in the larger economy cabin.
Right now anyone with a travel credit card can get Frontier Airlines elite status. And that’s a real offer. I’ve seen plenty of people use photoshop over the years when asking for an airline to ‘match’ the status they already have in order to move their business.
Even though marijuana is legal in many states, it remains against federal law. You can’t take it on interstate flights. Still, some people apparently pack their pot in checked luggage. And United Airlines baggage handlers steal it.
After spending years asking the federal government to violate a treaty with the United Arab Emirates and block Emirates from flying to the U.S., several months ago they entered into a partnership with the Gulf carrier. The partnership does very little so far, but helped make the case for United to launch its own Newark – Dubai flight.
United Airlines turned a lot of heads when they brought in a Vice President of Comcast to be the new leader of their MileagePlus frequent flyer program. He had no experience in loyalty or working with airlines. And they were tapping someone from Comcast – one of the companies in America most hated by consumers – to lead their consumer marketing.
Airlines fly ultra long haul flights, such as New York to Hong Kong or Sydney to Perth, and they usually treat catering similarly to a short hop across the pond from Boston to London – a meal after takeoff, and then something to eat again prior to landing, perhaps with midflight snacks available in the galley. Passengers are hungry.
For years United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has argued that there’s an historical relationship between airfares and GDP. Fares have been lower than they have been in the past, and so they’re likely to snap back. In fact, five years ago, he was essentially arguing that airfares should double based on this natural relationship.
Marlon Wayans – known for In Living Color, The Wayans Brothers, Scary Movie, White Chicks and more – was kicked off of United Airlines flight from Denver to Kansas City, and banned by the airline from making the trip.
I think this is great. If this is something you want to support, you can earn more miles doing so. And if it’s not, you can ignore the offer. Of course in 2023 it’s not so simple.
