United Airlines has closed its DFW Airport Club after reports of serious sanitation problems. Photos from inside the lounge show roaches, mold, standing water, and kitchen conditions far below acceptable standards.
There are 3 United Airlines United Clubs in Denver, plus the grab ‘n go Club Fly. One of the two clubs on the B concourse is currently closed. The lounge on the A West concourse near gate A25 is just a couple of years old. It’s big, it’s bright, and there’s plenty of seating.
United Airlines is taking a page from Delta with club lounge access restrictions, and together with Chase they’re taking a page from American Express with changes to their co-brand card portfolio. But I think they’re doing it a little bit more thoughtfully.
United Airlines is surveying changes to their United Club – from higher costs for memberships and for their premium co-brand credit card, to limitations on benefits. They are also contemplating changes to give some customers priority getting into the lounge, getting help with their bookings, and finding seats. Much of this is inspired by Delta Air Lines and their Sky Clubs.
In airport lounges people shovel food and drink into their bags, and stick their feet up on the furniture, going to sleep on couches, and generally acting as though these ‘nicer’ spaces are U.N.-administered refugee camps.

This will give United 11 open clubs. They’ll also be offering “more pre-packaged fresh food items” at Denver, Chicago and Honolulu “including breakfast partfaits, sandwiches, wraps, salads, desserts…”
One time passes valid for a year are currently discounted to $39 rather than $59.
