It seems to me that airlines ought to refuse to transport customers who act uncivilly towards employees, and – union rules notwithstanding – should fire employees who act uncivilly towards customers. It also seems that law enforcement should be a last resort, not a first resort.

United Will Start Adding a Plane With New Polaris Business Seats Every 10 Days
On this morning’s United earnings call Senior Vice President Andrew Nocella announced that they’ll be adding a plane with new Polaris business class seats every 10 days through 2020. If that turns out to be accurate it’s a real acceleration of pace for an airline that’s only retrofitted half a dozen planes in the two years since the product was announced.
Meanwhile two new Polaris lounges will open next month.

United Actually Removing Seats from Planes to Add Premium Economy, More Business Class
We’ve just learned United’s seating plans for its new Boeing 787-10s. They have 14 on order and are expected to take delivery of 3 this year.
United has also updated seat maps for Boeing 767-300ER, Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 777-300ER planes that show the configurations including premium economy.
Huge Fare Alert: Many US Cities to Paris From $149 Each Way
American and its joint venture partners British Airways and Iberia, along with United and Air Canada seem to be battling it out with crazy low fares between the U.S. and Paris.
$149 each way is even cheaper than transatlantic discounter Norwegian’s fares at the moment, and you fly a mainline carrier.

United’s Very First Polaris 777-200 is About to Arrive in the U.S.
In my view United has been exceptionally slow to roll out their new business class Polaris seats. It’s been nearly two years since they announced the product. It’s been fourteen months since the product took flight.
And while new widebody aircraft deliveries have had it, they’ve put only 5 reconfigured planes into service so far.
Aviation Police Officer Fired Over David Dao Dragging Sues United and Chicago
The officer says he did nothing wrong but that “if he did do something wrong it was because the City of Chicago failed to properly train him.”
And if United hadn’t called him, he wouldn’t have been there, Dr. Dao wouldn’t have been beaten and he wouldn’t have been fired.
United Polaris Lounge San Francisco Near Opening
The airline has said they expect the San Francisco, Newark, Houston and Los Angeles lounges to open this year — with the first three this summer.
And they’ve apparently learned their lesson with the Polaris debacle of overpromising and underdelivering seats and lounges, because it looks like they’re going to beat the summer opening projection for San Francisco — by a lot.
