Thai Airways is in the midst of restructuring and they’re looking for revenue anywhere they can find it. They opened a cafe with airplane seats, since they aren’t running pilots through simulator training as often they’re selling anyone who wants it time in a simulator at a discount, and now they’re also selling spots in their Training Academy as well.

The offerings range from learning how to extinguish a real fire on a plane to Thai cooking and, oddly enough, email writing.

Thai Airways is offering several courses (the translation from Thai is…imperfect):

Among the course options, for 2800 Baht ($89) you can learn to be a flight attendant. Even at that price training is more extensive than “subscribe to People magazine and hide in the galley. In fact it’s a four hour course that includes dressing up in a flight attendant uniform, getting hair done in an approved style, and performing on board service in an Airbus A380 mock cabin.

You also get to eat a business class meal, and bring along a friend to act as your passenger. A separate day and a half long course ($174) is required to master safety procedures such as flight evacuation.

The big challenge right now, of course, is that Thailand is not currently open for visitors and even their re-opening plans will be too cumbersome for most to take advantage of these cool experiences. Putting out a real fire on a plane and jumping down the emergency slide?
