News and notes from around the interweb:
- American Airlines passenger received $3800 compensation for a damaged bag after a domestic flight, within 24 hours after filing a claim.
- The very first Airbus A380, which Singapore Airlines returned at the end of its lease, will be stripped for parts because there’s simply not a big second hand market for A380s — especially as they come due for heavy maintenance. In fact two of the planes Singapore returned will be parted out.
- Sun Country will let employees choose their new livery. Four years ago American let employees choose their tail.
- After a soft agreement, wink and nod, not to add more routes between the US and Europe in the near future there’s little reason for Emirates not to bluster about possibly doing so. Doesn’t mean they will.
- Marriott is considering allow use of credit card free night certificates as partial payment towards higher tier redemptions. This surprises me as increasing the usefulness of certificates reduces breakage and increases cost. Still it would be very nice to allow customers to experience better hotels on their credit card free nights.

- Fort Lauderdale Hollywood airport updating its master plan through 2035:
I like that personalized bag, might have deterred the **** who stole my wife’s bag from the shuttle bus in Phoenix. Fortunately we tracked him down in the terminal at the Hertz counter. Should have pressed charges but had hungry children with us.
