This Argument Wins The War Over Window Seat Versus Aisle [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • Remember how I said there were more complaints about Delta interiors being posted to social media? Delta went farther than other airlines cleaning planes – including between each flight – during the pandemic. I don’t miss 2020, but I do miss the cleaning!

  • The baseline is really low but honestly I’ve found American to have better catering than United or Delta of late. But the baseline is really low…

  • Austrian Airlines restoring inflight chefs to business class Austrian historically has had a great catering program. How much ‘chefs’ matter depends on the individual and what they’re given to work with. I found than when Etihad had them, with a good chef, you could treat the menu more as an “ingredients list” and they would make whatever dish you wished. Not all of the chefs were very good.

  • American Airlines trip report from DJ Jazzy Jeff. I’m old enough to remember when he used to get top billing over The Fresh Prince (e.g. Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble, Summertime, Nightmare On My Street)

  • The implicit politics of Disney World (NYT)

  • The best argument for a window seat instead of an aisle:

@mikeabr not a normal sight for this route 😅 #northernlights #aurora #astrophotography ♬ Glisten by the Wind – nick leng

  • Ok then.

  1. Yikes on the mold. Unfortunately, it may be more likely to occur as AA offers more healthy (raw vegetable based) meal options. A good reminder to switch on the smartphone torch or the overhead seat lighting when the cabin is dark before digging into the meal.

  2. So tired of the sad stories about food. It happens people, it’s food. I have purchases fresh front from the store only to find mold when I get home and I inspected it before I put it in the cart. Can you imagine the catering operations for an airlines. AA (or any airline for that matter) didn’t purposely give you moldy food.

This country needs to get back from the poor me or they did it to me on purpose nonsense and realize we are not all perfect. Have some grace and patience.

  3. @ Sam
I was in Las Vegas @ Del Frisco and ordered 2 of the crab cakes they were inferior to the past ones
Almost sent them back.I won’t return under any circumstances
    Tasted like frozen crab sadly
    Landrys sucks
the ceo of the company has ruined every brand he’s ever put his hands on
The best crab cakes now are joes in Las Vegas @ Caesar’s palace and Hillstone in San Francsico to die for
Del Friscos is now like every diner pumping in inferior crab and breading
    Filler.
We ordered shrimp cocktails at Mortons in Honolulu and they are now crap too
    They once had excellence
Shrimp however were still reasonably good @ Del Frisco

  4. Speaking of crab cakes and shrimp cocktail, it was around ten years ago at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami we noticed a table of four ladies two tables away having a great time chattering away. One questioned the waiter if the medium crab claws were fresh or frozen. Fresh, he insisted. About 20 minutes later the same woman summoned the waiter and told him “These were obviously frozen, you said they were fresh.” And he took them away.

    Never forgot that.
