This Private Pilot Is The Hero We All Need

On Tuesday evening a private pilot took this flight over Maryland. His single engine 1969 PIPER PA-28-140, tail # N98131, made a real statement.

Now this is a family site, and even though the ‘NSFW’ moniker doesn’t mean very much when no one is going into the office these days small children walk by while we’re hunched over our keyboards at the breakfast bar. So I’m going to block out part of the first word, but you get the idea.

You can see this aircraft’s actual flight at FlightAware.com and at FlightRadar24.com.

The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds performed a joint flyover, the Navy and Air Force squadrons performed a tribute to health care workers over Philadelphia, Trenton and New York. But this one solo pilot, I think, truly did the country proud.

The plane is registered to a scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. Here’s video of the aircraft when it was on the market in 2017.

  1. Hero?
The words that come to my mind are idiot and juvenile.
Well at least he spared us the customary d!ck draw.
This story would become ironic in a few weeks if he dies from Covid-19.

  2. It seems that it would take a lot of skill to maintain such a precise ground track with winds aloft however Covid-19 is unimpressed.

  3. I don’t understand the rude comments above. Especially the 1st comment. People say fuck cancer all the time. I feel the same about Covid 19! The guy wasn’t doing anything he wasn’t supposed to! So thankful I don’t know these commenters personally.

  4. @FamTaYul

Truly impressive to find somebody who lacks both a sense of humor, AND lacks an understanding of irony.

    Don’t ya think?
