Any opinions expressed in this post are my own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by my advertising partners. I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). News and notes from around the interweb:
- American is offering up to 25,000 miles on transatlantic roundtrips through July 31. British Airways is now doing the same but I’d definitely prefer collecting AAdvantage miles rather than British Airways Avios (though the latter certainly do have strategic value).
- Doctor of Credit offers new data points about Chase limit approvals of new cards for many people who have opened 5 or more cards during the past 24 months
- Reader AP says that Chase is offering 70,000 points for the Chase Ink Plus Business Card when you apply at a Chase branch. I spent 18 years living in DC where it was 100 miles to the nearest Chase branch and sometimes miss the best branch offers.
- Travis feeds the troll
- Uber is testing a punchcard-style loyalty program for UberBLACK in the Los Angeles market: free ride after 15 rides.
- Lufthansa’s Miles and More is inreasing the price of intra-European roundtrip awards in both business and economy by 5000 miles while “surcharges will decrease from €40 to only €5 for Economy Class and for Business Class the fee will go down from €43 to €20.” That tradeoff values Lufthansa miles at between just under half a euro cent and 0.7 euro cents apiece — so I disagree with Lufthansa Flyer vehemently when he says:
In reality this is a fairly ‘passenger friendly’ deal. I’m sure most of us would be willing to spend 5k more miles instead of €20 to €35 more in fees.
Vehemently. LOL – the BA gloves are off.
But, when one applies for Chase Business Card at a branch, the platform officer will scrutinize you more than applying on-line. I mean if you don’t have a business and can’t even produce a business card, they may not even put in the application for you. YMMV, but be forewarned.
