News and notes from around the interweb:
- United screws up new uniform rollout the sizes are off, and they now have a budget of $70 per dress for alteration.
- Hyatt acquired Standard Hotels and Bunkhouse Group last summer and the hotels apparently join World of Hyatt this month. No word on earning Hyatt points at the Jo’s Coffee chain, however.
- The design of airline route networks.
- “Florida Man” gets federal prison time for attacking American Airlines gate agent at DFW airport
Surveillance footage revealed that on Oct. 5, 2024, at Gate A36 at DFW Airport, Owens repeatedly punched the American Airlines gate agent in the head, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release Friday. …Owens was late and at the wrong gate — A36 instead of A35 — when the gate agent informed him of the correct gate, prompting Owens to curse and walk away.
Owens attempted to board at Gate A35 without scanning his boarding pass after the gate agent had radioed Gate A35 to inform airline personnel that Owens appeared intoxicated. Owens was removed from the jet bridge by airline personnel. Owens returned to Gate A36, where he yelled at the gate agent, grabbed him by the shoulders, and punched him repeatedly in the face and neck.
- Refunds for American Airlines involuntary downgrades now have to be processed centrally by the refunds team.
- Cathay Pacific Silver (!) members get American Airlines Flagship lounge access when taking Cathay’s Dallas – Hong Kong flight even when traveling in economy. That status is equivalent to American Airlines Gold or British Airways Bronze. Normally access is limited to oneworld sapphire members and higher.
- United wants slot controls back at Newark (where they have the slots!), slot waiver extensions (so airlines don’t have to fly, and new competitors can’t enter the market), and control of jetBlue’s slots too all aiming towards less competition and higher fares in the New York (err, mostly New Jersey) market.
So, history repeats itself, or at least rhymes. Sounds like those 90’s jeans are back after all. Bah!
Sounds like United to me super cheap and treating their employees like crap. It’s that MAGA Kirby influence!
Anyone actually watch the wendover video? My guess is United paid for it bc it talks about how AWESOME Denver is bc it’s far from the city.
Just keep the old uniform. It looks better anyway. It’s classic and doesn’t need replacing.
@Adam
Maga is the best thing to happen to this country since Reagan killed what little socialism was creeping into our nation in the 1980s. I hope Trump can transform this nation into his vision for the next 100 years.
You must have it out for United ! There are plenty of airlines that treat their workers like shit , have given them uniforms that literally gave them skin boils ( hello delta) yet u have the most ridiculous and at times false crazy news about United all the time ! FLYING FACT: FLIGHT CREW UNIFORMS ARE MADE OF MATERIALS THAT HAVE TO TEST AND PASS FIRE RESISTANCE TESTS so most of them turn out of to be ill fitting due to the fact that they serve a real purpose just in case there is a crash resulting in fire they can get out and get others out without catching fire . So any crew that works at any airline have to get them fitted ! I work for one of the major companies as a flight atttndant and this is my third airline and none of them give picture Perfect uniforms so u must be really out of stories or are being paid to do story after story against United ! They need to sue you to teach you a lesson just like the story about their crew drinking on the job was false and misleading
@Walter
You don’t understand America. It should never be about one man’s vision. You’re in a cult.
@ Adam
You are delusional dude. It’s because of inept and uneducated people like you that we have this garbage as president.
So sad, we have become the laughing stock of Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and Asia.
