IHG Rewards, formerly known as Priority Club, is bringing back another reward ‘flash sale’ with hotel night redemptions 25% – 75% off at specific properties.
Starting Monday at 10am Eastern the sale will be bookable here. The deal will last for 48 hours.
For US hotels, stays can be from December 1 through December 20. Non-US hotels stays can be from November 20 through December 20, 2013. So clearly they’re avoiding the Thanksgiving holiday in the US and ending this before Christmas.
They’ve posted the full list of properties up on their ‘community’ website, and it appears that 129 hotels are participating.
Here are a few samples:
Holiday Inn Resort Chaohu Hot Spring, China – 75% off (will be 6,250 points
Hotel Indigo San Jose, Costa Rica – 75% off (will be 5,000 points)
Hotel Indigo NYC Chelsea – 25% off (will be 33,750 points)
Holiday Inn Panjin Aqua City, China – 75% off (will be 5,000 points)
Crowne Plaza Resort Mazatlan, Mexico – 75% off (will be 5,000 points)
Crowne Plaza Verona, Italy – 75% off (will be 6,250 points)
Even if you don’t have IHG Rewards points, you can more or less buy all you wish instantly (with a few steps involved) for seven-tenths of a cent per point.
I’m not in love with award nights through this program, since most elite benefits are not applicable when spending points (though some hotels will generously extend benefits anyway) and there’s no option to spend more points to get into a better than base room.
But the deals here are pretty good if any of the participating hotels can work for your plans.
They ran a flash sale September 30 and also again October 21 so this seems to be becoming a fairly regular feature of the program.
It’s certainly buzz-worthy, but your plans need to dovetail with the included properties and for travel booked fairly close-in.

For about 99% of the folks reading this post, this sale will be useless. The domestic weeks are probably the slowest of the year, and the more attractive hotels are only offering 25% off (which is rarely enough to make a difference). There are a handful of properties overseas that might be useful to Americans vacationing in unusual places during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Bilbao or Temuco, anyone?
