20% Off Hyatt Rate, Valid At 45 Major Hotels

One of the prizes in the American Airlines 40th anniversary game and sweepstakes is 20% off a Hyatt stay. American and Hyatt launched a double dip partnership two years ago.

When you win the Hyatt prize though it’s not 20% off a single stay, instead you’re sent a coupon code for 20% off the standard rate at a specific set of hotels which is usable by anyone and reusable: AA40TH.

  • Book by May 31
  • For stays through September 12
  • Enter AA40TH in the ‘special offer’ box at Hyatt.com

Andaz Papagayo Costa Rica

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

This discount won’t mean paying 20% less than you’d have otherwise spent, because it’s off the standard rate, not off of the prepaid rate, AAA discount, etc. But it may be a better rate than you’d have paid.

By the way when I first played the AAdvantage spin-to-win game when it launched I didn’t win anything. Since then I’ve gone back and played the game and won every time. So it may be worth revisiting.

  1. Alila Marea or the Cape would be a great use of this promo. Just left the Alila yesterday and feel it is a bit overpriced, so this would bring it closer to the value offered. The Cape pricing is running a bit lower than usual and this will help offset the ridiculous taxes in Mexico.

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach is long overdue for a remodel and the pool is too small to accommodate all the locals who sneak in. Allow that to be a pass.

  2. Got excited when i won this prize till i realize it’s limited to few hyatt properties. Could use 20% discount on cheap hyatt places to hit globalist status, oh well.

  3. Why you would interfere with a promo and potentially deny legitimate winners their prize is beyond me. AA limits the number of times this code can be used.

Has your moral compose eroded that much? Very shameful post.

  4. T&C: Any unauthorized transfer, sale, distribution or reproduction constitutes fraud.
Of course that does not apply to bloggers, especially to known ones.

  5. Gary, I had the same experience on the AA promotion…5 spins the first day, zilch won. Since then I have won 8 times…mostly adding miles (1 win for 4,000, 2 @400, and 4 @ 40 miles; plus a rental car discount). Thanks for alerting us to the promo.

  6. If your browser doesn’t allow the globe to spin, you will lose every time (or at least I have.) I have yet to win anything of value. I’ve won an AA seat upgrade could use, but you have to use it when you book your flight, and mine is already booked. I won a car rental one, but I never rent cars. I won the Hyatt discount, but I can’t use it as none of the hotels are local, and I have my hands full of free hotel nights to use up. I heard you get 40 miles a spin, but haven’t seen confirmation of that in my spins.

  7. So far I’ve won a potential rental car upgrade with Avis and a 15% discount on SimplySafe. I can’t wait to see what my next prize will be.

  8. The code didn’t really give me discount. I got the same price with my regular booking as Globalist.

  9. The ‘car rental discount’ is the same code as on the AA webpage under AAdvantage- cars. Bogus ‘prize’.

  10. “Has your moral compose eroded that much? Very shameful post.”

He composed and then composted his moral compass

  11. The rates on a few different hotels and dates are all coming up higher with this rate than the member standard discount. This is a scam and a joke.
