Upgrading an Award Ticket With Miles from Two Accounts
Reader Casey asked,
“My friend booked 2 United economy awards for him and myself for 25k each. To upgrade to Business class it is only 15k each. I have 25K and he has 5k. Can we somehow upgrade to Business for both of us using our miles? We can’t figure it out on the website. Thank you!”
Leaving from New York JFK or Have a 3 Hour Layover There? Do This.
Good Sri Lankan food is always a great option. Spicy Lanka is just 5 miles from New York’s JFK airport.
I was in New York for about 20 hours, flying into LaGuardia and out of JFK. I was on a 5:30pm flight out yesterday. The lunch event I attended in Manhattan yesterday was more useful for talking with folks and I decided not to eat anything, I got out of there around 2:30pm, so I decided to stop here on the way to the airport. Good call.

JetBlue Adds First Checked Bag Fee and Simplifies Fares With a Complicated Chart
JetBlue has introduced a new fare structure that includes first checked bag fees. That leaves Southwest as the only major US airline without checked bag fees.
They had announced in the fall that they’d be adding seats and giving customers less legroom. And let’s not forget that with checked bag fees JetBlue should see some tax benefits. Apparently all that kept them from launching this to date was the IT.
Review: Westin Colonnade, Coral Gables Near the Miami Airport
I usually stay at the Hyatt in Coral Gables but spent a couple of days recently at the Westin Colonnade nearby instead.
I like both hotels. Both physical plants are older, but are well kept up, and both have excellent staff.
American’s Twitter Team Successfully Gets My Home Internet Fixed
I was delayed out of Miami yesterday first by a catering issue …My connection time in Dallas was reduced down to 25 minutes initially and I was going to be changing terminals. In fact I would have to go from terminal D to terminal C on the other side of the airport.
While inflight I tweeted about the tight connection.
Review: American Express Lounge Sydney Airport
After checking in with Delta and obtaining my boarding pass, I decided to lounge hop since I had access to at least three different lounges in the international terminal.. My first stop would be the American Express lounge.
