Visa Infinite’s Rental Car Benefits are Usable By Anyone: 30% Off and Elite Status

There are (3) rental car benefits of Visa Infinite I’m familiar with:

30% Off Silvercar

I really like Silvercar. They have an all-Audi fleet and their all-inclusive model comes with free GPS, wifi, and satellite radio. You pay only actual tolls (no administrative charges) and can pay a flat $5 and they’ll refuel your car at market rate.

No $9.79 per gallon charges, and no filling up at the gas station near rental car return charging nearly $5 a gallon.

First time Silvercar users get $25 when referred by someone. The referrer gets $25 as well. This is my referral link, feel free to leave yours in the comments if you’d like.

The 30% discount on Silvercar rentals of 2 days or more is reusable and doesn’t appear to require payment with a Visa Infinite, so presumably can be used by anyone.

National Car Rental Executive Status

There’s a Visa Infinite signup link for National Car Rental’s Emerald Club and it comes with instant Executive status.

There’s no validation that you have a Visa Infinite, though. They offer the same benefit to World MasterCard cardholders and that link came up via Google as the first result when I searched for Executive status. Here’s the MasterCard signup link.

Both let you sign up at the Executive level. Neither one validates that the card you’re using in your profile is of the tier that’s eligible.

Avis Preferred… Isn’t Really a Benefit

This may be advertised as a ‘benefit’ of Visa Infinite, but it’s not, it’s the base level of membership in the Avis program that you get simply signing up. Sounds good though, right?

  1. Interesting. When I tried to get the Silvercar benefit before my Chase Sapphire Reserve came, and used the code with my Chase Sapphire Preferred, I got an error message that my card was not eligible for the discount.

  2. The screenshot Gary posted above is from the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal under the link “Card Benefits”. See code “VINFINITE” to get 30% off of SilverCar.

  3. I got really confused by the Avis Preferred thing at first. Both the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Amex Platinum claim this as a “benefit”..

I guess both have a coupon code of sorts to give a minor discount, but the fact they imply you get any sort of status with Avis felt misleading. And neither could come close to competing with costcotravel.com — I saved well over double my annual Costco membership on one Avis rental.
