New Security Procedures for Flying to the U.S. are Stupid
Passengers bound for the US are now interrogated as part of the check-in process. This isn’t entirely new, it was in place for Paris Charles de Gaulle earlier in the year. But it’s spread.
The questions are stupid, and there’s no science behind the effort.
Internal Memo: American’s Catering Progress at LAX Since the Listeria Discovery
After listeria was discovered at the LAX facility of caterer Gate Gourmet, American Airlines (and later others) stopped using them to provision food for flights.
That’s a smart precaution to take, but it created big operational problems. It’s meant double catering some flights into Los Angeles so there’d be food and beverages for flights out of LA. It’s meant providing food for passengers to bring onboard. And they’ve been transitioning to other caterers as much as possible to bring back meal services for flights.
Rapping Delta Flight Attendant Busts Rhyming Safety Announcements
On flights that offer inflight entertainment we usually get a safety video. It’s choreographed, sometimes a little bit funny, but most of the time ultimately corporate.
In part because of the fun corporate culture, in part because there’s no plane-wide video on the airline, when we think of awesome safety announcements we usually think of Southwest.
However Delta seems to be a place where fun safety announcements have a home — at least if you’re crew on one of their regional carriers.
All I Want for Christmas is United Polaris
United’s online store now stocks Polaris items. So now flight attendants won’t have to monitor passengers stealing all the amenities, and can just direct folks to United’s online shop instead.
Say that United’s rollout of new seats has been slow. Say that their crews are inconsistent. But they really do have excellent new amenities in business class, especially the bedding.
Buzzing Noise for British Airways 10 Hour ‘Flight from Hell’, Compensation? £20
On a British Airways flight from London to Las Vegas earlier this month the plane’s speakers reportedly buzzed for five minutes every 15 minutes. One passenger described it as “ten hours of hell basically.”
Recordings of the buzzing or humming sound were shared through social media. Complaining customers were given a £20 credit towards future British Airways travel. British Airways considers the matter closed.
Youtube Star Tries to Capture the Solitary Quirks of Business Travel
Youtube star Casey Neistat, who once broke up with American Airlines when they failed to renew his comped Concierge Key status, tries to capture business travel in his newest video.
Single serving friends though aren’t the employees in the airport or at the hotels you frequent. They’re your seat opponents on flights, probably best captured in this deleted scene from Up in the Air.
