40% Discount on Purchased United Miles

Via Lucky United is running a sale through 11:59pm Central time to purchase miles at 40% off.

That link is for their Facebook fans, though you don’t need to be one in order to use it.

They’re promoting the same discount for their Twitter followers.

The offer brings the price down to 2.1 cents a point plus 7.5% tax. That’s above the point where I buy them on the if-come, but it’s a good offer to top off an account towards a specific award.

  1. I’ve got 54K on UA. Worth it right now to buy 13.5K so I can fly FIRST internationally? Would you spend the $270?

  2. @Michael

yes… absolutely. especially if you can snag nice ones like Swiss, Singapore of Lufthansa.

  3. @Michael, why not? $270 is very cheap. In term of $/mile, you can see your miles worth around at least 7 or 8 cents per mile comparing to 2 or 3 cents/mile on economy/coach

  4. Gary – not sure where to post this, but why does United.com search engine sometimes show different award availability for “NYC” vs. a specific airport like “EWR”? “NYC” is supposed to cover EWR/JFK/LGA. An example: May 17 one-way award “NYC to BKK” vs. “EWR to BKK”. In the latter you see availability for a business class flight connection through Halifax and London but the former search does not show this. There are other similar examples.
