Hyatt Diamond members were given a free night at any Hyatt with the transition to the new World of Hyatt and renaming top tier status ‘Globalist’. I used mine at the Park Hyatt Sydney.

Hyatt also gives a free night at any property upon hitting 60 nights in a year.

And you can earn 2 free nights at any Hyatt with the Hyatt Credit Card after $2,000 in purchases in the first 3 months after account opening. Chase hasn’t been imposing it’s ‘5/24’ restrictions on getting approved for this card.

With uncapped Hyatt free nights an increasingly common currency, here are my 6 favorite places to consider using uncapped (category 1 through 7) nights:

Park Hyatt Hadahaa, Maldives

I’ve visited the Park Hyatt five years in a row. I went for the first time back when Capital One offered up to 110,000 points for their Venture and Business Venture cards. My wife and I each got both cards. At the time you could convert points to Hyatt gift certificates at 1.7 cents apiece in value.

I booked the Park Hyatt Maldives on points using the defunct ‘Passport Escapes’ award that offered free breakfasts (which are a top elite benefit anyway) and a couple of dinners during my stay.

Just booking free nights here is far more straightforward. This is definitely one of the hot spots for engaged frequent flyer redemptions, the last time I stayed here there were six couples who came up to introduce themselves to me as blog readers during my stay. And there are only 50 rooms here (all standalone villas). Several were using free nights earned with the Hyatt Credit Card where each member of the couple had gotten the card.

You do have to pay for a domestic flight and boat transfer from the main airport of Male, and you’re in the middle of the Indian Ocean, but each free night here can be worth more than $1000 per night (closer to $2000 during peak season even).

Park Hyatt New York

I love this hotel, it’s gorgeous. In New York I usually try to stay near my meetings. And I’m never going to come out of pocket the $700++ room rates that the hotel commands (at a minimum). But I want to stay here, and I’ve really enjoyed myself here when I’ve been able to.

They even allow top tier elites to take complimentary breakfast via room service for the cost of the delivery fee.

I loved the gorgeous bathrooms here, and I couldn’t stop playing with the door to the toilet room which caused the lid to pop up all on its own, I even made a video.

Park Hyatt Sydney

Sydney is the place I’ve traveled to the most because I have family that moved there (to the suburbs) when I was only 5. Back then I used to fly coach, I remember American Airlines used to have DC-10 service via Honolulu which was awful on the return, having to get off in Hawaii and clear customers half asleep before continuing on.

When I was a kid I used to stay with my family. Now that I’m an adult, and like to have my own space, I stay at a hotel. (My wife and I do the same thing when we visit her family.)

And if we’re going to stay somewhere, we have points and free nights, why not the Park Hyatt?
This hotel is able to command the highest room rates in the city, a function of its really special location right on the water and directly across from the Sydney Opera House.

This is where I spent a free night award in March. It’s also where one of my cousins spent his wedding night two years ago. And where my other cousin had planned to spend hers as well (I booked it for her using points from my own account to guarantee her late checkout).

Park Hyatt Paris

I’ve stayed here many times. It’s my preferred hotel in Paris because I see it as really good value on points. I’ve been there when the property was nearly sold out, getting over 1000 euros a night, and points I think this is the only hotel I’ve stayed at where there was a sink in the shower.

I love the very French toiletries. And I love that the incredible pastries, eggs, cheeses and more at breakfast which is complimentary for top tier elites can be taken via room service as well.

And I love that it’s a remarkably tranquil retreat from a busy city, and it’s in a great location walkable to multiple metro stops and quaint local restaurants as well as some of the most famous things to do in the city.

Park Hyatt Tokyo

The first time I visited Tokyo I stayed at the Hilton on a mistake rate. Booked through Expedia, someone dropped two digits off the hotel’s price in yen. A room there ran $2 per night as a result… or $3 for an executive floor room (complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails).

Typical Japanese service, I had booked a week and let them know I’d only be staying four nights, the hotel apologized to me for the mistake and apologized further they could not refund the last 3 nights because the $9 had been paid to Expedia. I’m sure the hotel didn’t love this, but darnit if they weren’t exceedingly polite about it.

While there my wife and I had lunch at the Park Hyatt’s Kozue, which was magnificent. I fell in love with the clean lines of the property just visiting it. And I vowed to go back, if only to the New York Bar where Bill Murray met Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation.

Park Hyatt St. Kitts

This hotel isn’t open yet, it’s been delayed by construction issues, but I do have a stay booked here during the winter. It’s the hotel opening I’m most excited about, and have been ever I spoke with the immediate past General Manager of the Park Hyatt Maldives while on property and he was telling me he’d be leaving to become this hotel’s pre-opening GM. The photos just look gorgeous.

As someone who doesn’t much favor the Caribbean it’s going to be fantastic to have a really high end luxury hotel available where I can redeem points.

Earning Enough Free Nights

Two nights aren’t always enough for a trip of course. If two people get the Hyatt Credit Card they can each earn two nights, which makes for a great trip. I’ve often topped off my Hyatt points with instant transfers from my Chase Sapphire Preferred Card too.
