Austrian is a Star Alliance airline, they have a good business class in fact arguably they have the very best food in business class.
You can use miles with United, Aeroplan, ANA, LifeMiles, and many other programs to book awards to and through Vienna to most places you’d want to go in Europe and even Asia.

Back in September we saw 6 or more business class award seats available on most Austrian flights. Well now excellent award availability on Austrian is back with 4 or more seats on many flights for travel through April. (HT: Nick Ellis)

Availability is even better on the Chicago and Miami flights. Since the great availability really does just run through April, the new Los Angeles – Vienna flight isn’t participating in this.
Vienna is great in its own right. You can’t quite do it in a night, or as quickly as you might walk Amsterdam, but you can see highlights on a Before Sunrise tour.
You may not have any interest in Vienna (although consider it for a stopover — or ‘excursionist perk’ on a United Europe award — but you should have interest in these award seats either way. You can fly beyond to other destinations in Europe or even Asia.
- United MileagePlus: 70,000 miles each way. Chase points transfer to United.
- Aeroplan: 55,000 miles each way (although if you connect to ‘Europe 2’ the price goes to 57,500). American Express points transfer to Aeroplan, but fuel surcharges are added.
- Avianca LifeMiles: 63,000 miles each way.
