Best Current Deals and News You Can Use

Air France/KLM Flying Blue is matching status up to Platinum through the end of the month.

You’ll receive 1000 Free Delta miles just for creating a FedEx account, also by the end of the month. (There’s also six more days to get 100 free starpoints and you can get 100 American Miles for liking them on Facebook by March 31.)

Frequent Traveler University is the evening of April 29 (welcome cocktails) and all day April 30 at the Sheraton LaGuardia in New York. $49 buys you breakfast and lunch (the cocktails are comped, too) and the day-long seminar. I’ll be sharing most of what I know about booking frequent flyer award tickets. I’m told the actual per-person cost is $68 but sponsors have offset the cost, personally I think they should be using the money to pay me for everything I’m going to share there! A handful of spots left, so don’t wait to sign up!

Milepoint.com is giving away an iPad2 every day in March in a random drawing of registered members. As a new site, odds of winning are pretty good, and the sooner you register the more chances you have.

Capital One is giving up to 110,000 points for a new Venture Card. They’re ‘matching’ your miles in a frequent flyer account, limited to certain accounts (but most North American airline programs are included). So if you have 100,000 miles sitting around, you can get up to $1100 in travel for a new credit card. But act quickly because they’ve ‘capped’ the bonuses they’ll give away at a billion points, I’d guess there’s a couple of weeks to take advantage of this offer tops.

BankDirect’s new member signup bonuses improve significantly on April 1. Their checking accounts, which earn American Airlines miles, are a great deal in a low interest rate environemnt, since the mileage earning for average account balnace doesn’t get reduced. As long as you keep a $2500 average balance in your account in order to avoid monthly fees.

There are still free codes for six months of AwardWallet premium service. (Update: Code is all used up!)

Dropbox offers you free, synchable online storage.

March 31 is the last day to buy US Airways miles with a 100% bonus. Dividend Miles remains the ‘official consolidator of Star Alliance premium-cabin seats’.
