Book Now: Wide Open Qatar Airways QSuites Award Space In 2023

Qatar has one of the best business class product in the world in its ‘QSuites’. These are revolutionary suites with doors and movable partitions that allow two and even four passengers to travel together in their own space.

Right now there’s fantastic award availability booking for 2023. You can use this for travel from the U.S. to Doha and beyond to the Mideast, India, the Maldives and elsewhere. You’ll find business class space on the long haul flights for at least two and sometimes four passengers, with best availability out of Houston and Washington Dulles but some availability from all U.S. gateways. Connecting availability to many Qatar departure gateways is surprisingly good.

Houston – Doha business class award space for two passengers:

Washington Dulles – Doha award space is fantastic:

Space from Boston:

And from Chicago O’Hare:

There’s business class award space for two passengers from Atlanta to Doha:

There isn’t nearly as much non-stop award space from the West Coast, but you’ll still find West Coast departures using American Airlines or Alaska Airlines flights for connections. Searching aa.com for award space from San Francisco to Doha in business class allowing for one connection shows plenty of availability.

Booking:

  • American AAdvantage charges 70,000 miles each way per person in business class, and that includes a connecting flight in the U.S. and the connection beyond Doha to anywhere in the Mideast or ‘Indian Subcontinent’

  • Qatar Airways charges 70,000 miles one-way in business class between New York JFK and Doha; 85,000 from New York JFK to Male, Maldives in business class.

  • British Airways Executive Club has reduced its pricing on Qatar redemptions now that Qatar Airways uses Avios as its loyalty currency

If you’re using AAdvantage miles, bear in mind that American is offering its own planned New York JFK – Doha flightbut I do not consider the downgrade to fly American Airlines business class versus Qatar’s to be worth any any web saver mileage savings. Watch the operating carrier on New York JFK departures or connections!

Generally Qatar availability goes in waves, it comes and goes, and is usually best towards the end of the booking window. Four seats are special to be seated in a section of four, take down dividers.

This is a fantastic chance to redeem miles for one of the world’s best business classes. You may want to visit Doha, I recommend a couple of days and definitely seeing the Museum of Islamic Art. However it’s also a great connecting point for India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and elsewhere.

British Airways (Chase, American Express transfer partner) can book Qatar Airways seats with fuel surcharges. Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles (American Express, Citi transfer partner) can as well. Alaska shows both saver availability at reasonable prices, and availability when no saver is open at exorbitant prices.

  1. The question is if there’s award availability with more than 2 qsuite seats on the same plane. Seems to have been restricted to 2 business class award seats per flight on Qatar no matter where, even short ones like Kuwait -> Doha

Does us no good otherwise for us (me + wife + 4 year old daughter)

Maybe its an intentional strategy of Qatar to limit the number of families with kids on qsuites who want to redeem miles?

  2. Thanks Gary. Winter trip booked for myself & P2. One stop to SEA via IAD. Set a couple of seat alerts to tighten it up a bit.

  3. I’ve tried a few dates from different locations in the US to MLE. All availability I saw was for a mixed cabin itinerary. US to Doha in biz, Doha to MLE in economy. How aa (and other airlines) gets away with charging the same amount of points for mixed cabin itinerary as it does for a full biz class itinerary is a separate subject.

  4. Gary, I was wondering about seat selection for the Q-suites. I’ve already booked a flight to Maldives with 2 of flight segments being on Qatar, 1 in Q-suites and the other in regular business. I am able to select a seat for the non Q-suites segment but they want to charge me $110 to select a seat on the SEA-DOH segment in the Q-suites. Is that normal? I used Alaska miles for this.

  5. Everything I am seeing is, for some reason, double the normal prices. Tried on the website and app. So, for example, ATL – DOH, IAD – DOH and JFK – DOH are all pricing as 140k one way in biz and 280k return.

  6. I grabbed LAX-IAH-DOH then DOH-IAH in Q Suites in Feb/Mar. I’ll now look for positioning flights to LAX and then home from IAH. Plus will add DOH-DMM to visit family, super excited for this trip! Now to decide between Cairo, Jordan, or Israel as side trips. Great use of AA miles that I’ve had hanging around forever… Never got to use them on Etihad but this’ll be a great trip!

  7. The Qatar Airways award inventory for 2023 seems to have disappeared weeks ago from AA AAdvantage searches. Frustrating.

  8. Agree – AA not showing any Qatar award inventory online for mid-late 2023 but scored 2 economy seats ORD-NBO for my kids via phone to AA. Hoping to score 2 q-suites as well. But try calling AA.
