There’s a huge sale between the U.S. and Europe on Delta starting at $1500 roundtrip for travel throughout most of 2021 through end of schedule (early September next year).
Meanwhile American Airlines is running a New York – Italy business class sale with $1900 roundtrip.
British Airways is offering 50% off long haul redemptions in any cabin and 25% off of short haul. Book by October 13 for travel through June 30, 2021. No registration is required, and this appears to be available to all members worldwide and isn’t restricted to particular routes.
For instance book New York – London for just 25,000 miles each way in business class, 34,000 miles each way in first.
Alaska Airlines is offering a regular discount based on Russell Wilson touchdowns. Last night’s performance yields 40% off. Book by midnight Pacific time tonight.
Capital One and Amazon are offering a first-use promotion of $20 off $80 for Capital One cardmembers who have never used their miles or cash back to shop at Amazon.com.
Star Alliance member TAP Air Portugal, known for its cheap business class fares, has deals right now from the U.S. to Europe starting at just $82 one way and $229 round trip. And that’s not just East Coast to Europe, but even from San Francisco as well.
And while most people in the U.S. cannot travel to most destinations in Europe now, at least without quarantining on arrival (U.K.), this fare is available through next summer and at these prices it may be worth taking a flyer.
One of the best deals in travel has long been the annual Alaska Airlines $99 companion ticket that comes with their credit card, since it’s valid for any seat on any flight in conjunction with a paid ticket without restriction – and even earns miles.
Right now though Alaska Airlines is offering companion travel without the $99 payment, without the credit card, and in unlimited quantities.

Iberia is offering 50% off redemptions booked by August 30 for travel September 1, 2020 through March 15, 2021. That’s a six and a half month period for travel, and creates an opportunity where we might just be able to travel again – and do so cheap, from just 17,000 miles each way between the U.S. and Europe.
And I just posted about amazing Iberia business class award availability between Madrid and Chicago, Miami, and New York JFK. Often when Iberia discount awards availability is scarce, but that’s not the case here.
American Airlines has added back more flights than Delta or United. They also appear to be pricing more aggressively, something that United CEO Scott Kirby has publicly said he will not do.
Under American’s revenue-based model low prices also bring inexpensive award inventory. Often that’s only true for connecting flights but right now it seems to be true even for premium cabin international non-stops.
This is a great opportunity to use American or British Airways miles to Europe next year with very good availability and low cost.
