Review: United Polaris Lounge Houston
The staff here are friendly. The lounge is gorgeous. Tarmac views are fantastic. Everything about the Polaris lounge Houston is well designed.
There are showers and nap rooms, an extensive buffet and a sit down restaurant. What’s more even though the lounge is small most of the day it doesn’t seem to be crowded, since the airline’s flights are better space throughout the day rather than clustering solely around 5 o’clock.

Review: United Polaris Lounge Newark
I visited United’s new Polaris business class lounge in Chicago 18 months ago. At the time I thought it was the best business class lounge in the United States (and I really enjoy the outdoor deck of the Star Alliance lounge at LAX).
Over the past three and a half months United has picked up the pace of new lounge openings, with Polaris lounges also now in San Francisco, Newark, and Houston.
The United Polaris lounge Newark solidifies my impression of the Polaris lounge project: this is perhaps the nicest thing that United has done. The dining is very good. The lounge amenities are top notch. And there’s a real thoughtfulness that has gone into the details.
American Will Leave San Francisco’s Terminal 2 and Alaska Will Build New Lounge There
American Airlines will move out of terminal 2 in March 2020 and “commence operations in our new Terminal 1 and Boarding Area B”
However Alaska Airlines will not take over the Admirals Club space. The airport wants that for retail. Alaska wants to “leas[e] some of the build-back space for a potential lounge” and may be looking at a two-level club.
Current DFW Centurion Lounge Will Not Re-open, New Lounge Opens in October
A month ago I wrote that the Dallas Fort-Worth Centurion lounge would be closed through mid-August for ‘repairs’. American Express said the lounge would re-open August 14. I wrote “hopefully that project will not delay” of course projects of this sort always delay.
An Airport Lounge United, American, Delta and Frontier Elites All Can Access
Back in April I wrote about hidden lounges: airport clubs your membership gets you into but that your airline doesn’t tell you about.
The perfect example of this is The Club at Bluegrass in the Lexington, Kentucky airport can be accessed by any Admirals Club member, United Club member, or Delta Skyclub member.
It turns out there’s an airport lounge that grants access to pretty much everyone’s elites.
Dallas Centurion Lounge Closed Through Mid-August
A year ago American Express inked an expansion of the Miami lounge – arguably the brand’s most crowded – and did a deal to replace the current DFW lounge with a new nearby larger one.
That project seems to be behind, and the current Centurion lounge at Dallas Fort-Worth is closed until August 14 for repairs.

American Testing New Club Lounge Salad Bar
A couple of months ago I wrote about American Airlines testing new substantive food offerings in their Admirals Clubs. In Houston, Phoenix, and Chicago O’Hare they’re testing out more dishes. And the specific things they’re offering change monthly.
