Passengers Go “Suitcase Bowling” Down Escalator In China

Sep 04 2022

A new meme out of China, ‘suitcase bowling’, is taking over the internet. As I write a version of the video shortened and celebrating a bowling strike as a suitcase falls down an escalator and takes out a passenger at the bottom has been viewed over 8 million times.

Two people at the top of the escalator tried to send their bag down on its own. However it didn’t stay upright – tossing itself down and gaining momentum until a way – who sees it coming and tries to outrun it – gets knocked down.

When You’re Booked On A 5 A.M. Flight, You Do You

Sep 04 2022

Airlines are one of the most small-d democratic experiences we have, where people from all walks of life with all kinds of backgrounds, experiences, and emotional baggage (the only kind of baggage the airlines won’t charge for) come together inside of a metal tube. We’re all different in our own way, and it takes a little bit of time after we wake up before we’re ready to conform. If you’re stuck flying at 5 o’clock in the morning, you do you..

Man Started “Violently Shaking And Kicking” Seat When Passenger In Front Reclined

Sep 03 2022

Sam Bowman reports that he was flying Virgin Atlantic in economy. He reclined his seat, he says, in order “to sleep and the grown man behind me started violently shaking and kicking my seat.” After the violent passenger was told to stop, “his wife loudly declared that I was a sociopath.”

The important point to make here, aside from the obvious “don’t physically shake the seat of the person in front of you” is that a passenger whose seat reclines gets to decide whether to put that seat in the upright or reclined position, outside of takeoff and landing where the government makes the decision for them. It’s not always appropriate to recline, but the decision belongs to the passenger whose seat it is.

Passenger Shoves His Bag Into The Sizer At The Gate So Hard It’s Stuck For Good

Sep 02 2022

An airline passenger was stopped at the boarding gate by an agent who thought his carry on bag was too big to go on the aircraft. They told him he’d have to fit it into the bag sizer, and if it didn’t fit he’d have to pay to check the bag.

So shoved that bag in. He kicked it. He pushed it. The agent insisted that the bag go all the way in. The man didn’t give up. Only then the bag was stuck.

Man Accused Of Groping Passenger Inflight Successfully Uses The Economy Class Defense

Sep 02 2022

A man accused of groping another passenger on a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to London Heathrow was found not guilty after using the Economy Class defense.

The man had been accused of groping a sleeping student sitting next to him while on the flight home from his honeymoon. He claimed that stroking his thigh – “for up to two hours” – was simply the result of being crammed into economy. Where were his hands supposed to go?

Musicians Have Special Rights On A Plane – But Only If They Prepare Properly To Exercise Them

Aug 31 2022

American Airlines forced a musician to gate check his guitar, not allowing him to bring it on board his flight. They promptly lost the guitar.

Musicians do have rights, but they also have the responsibility to be prepared to exercise those rights. Buy an extra seat for the instrument, or ensure you’re boarding early enough that there’s overhead bin space left for your instrument.

“Quit Sending Naked Pictures” Southwest Airlines Pilot Threatens To Turn Plane Around

Aug 30 2022

A Southwest Airlines pilot threatened to turn the plane around and return to the gate if Cabo-bound passengers didn’t stop airdropping naked photos to each other, as captured in video posted to social media last week.

The pilot warned “Vacation is going to be ruined.” And – doubling down on his dad vibes threatening to turn the car around, he said “whatever that AirDrop thing is” passengers needed to “quit sending naked pictures, and let’s get yourselves to Cabo.”
