Repubican Congresswoman Nancy Mace is running for governor of South Carolina. Last Thursday morning she didn’t help her cause, reportledy cursing loudly and “making derogatory comments” towards airport security. And she keeps extending the news cycle, now saying she plans to sue American Airlines on the theory that they’re fabricating records about her behavior to manufacture this story.
- An escort detail was supposed to meet her curbside at the airport and take her through security, but there was a mixup over what car they were looking for.
- So went inside on her own, headed straight for Known Crewmember security, and “began loudly cursing and making derogatory comments to us and about the department,” including telling the officers “we were ‘f—ing incompetent’ and ‘this is no way to treat a f—ing U.S. Representative.’”
As she was escorted to her gate, she continued her profanity‑laden tirade. One officer logged: “The entire walk to gate B‑8 she was cursing and complaining and often doing the same into her phone.”
Mace told officers that they’d never mistreat Senator Tim Scott this way (because the black guy always gets better treatment from police). He says he wants no part of this!

An American Airlines gat agent told the officers he was “in disbelief regarding her behavior” and that a U.S. Representative should not be acting the way she was. Now American is getting sued?

If you’re running for governor of a southern state, the last thing you want to do is extend the story about your mistreatment of law enforcement. And if you’re a politician so given to tirades that you lost your entire staff in under a year, the last thing you want is to initiate proceedings that open you up to discovery. Meanwhile she wants the airport CEO fired, when public demands like that don’t make the kind of friends you need to succeed in your run.
Whatever you think of Congresswoman Mace, she is getting very bad advice.

Her political career is likely over. If she was a liberal, she’d earn extra points for abusing law enforcement or threatening to murder children. Conservative voters do not appreciate poor behavior towards law enforcement
These people have no shame. They are literally caught on film acting a fool. When caught, their response is to turn around and sue, claiming it was your fault. There is no end to the depths to which they will sink to get their way…everyone else be damned. I don’t care if you a D or an R, this kind of behavior is disgusting.
My favorite Nancy Mace moment was when she spoke at a prayer breakfast and explained that she got there late because her boyfriend convinced her to jump back into bed to finish/continue doing something they started the night before.

I’m from SC (live in Charlotte now but downsizing in a few weeks to a home back over the line so will be voting in SC again). This is embarrassing. Doesn’t begin to compare with our other prominent female Republican (Nikki Hailey) who is a good politician and would never pull a stunt like this.
Oh yeah Nancy I’ll educate you on lawsuits. You are a public figure so not only would you have to prove what they reported was inaccurate but also done maliciously to harm you. That is a high bar to clear. Best to let it go.

@David P….yeah, sorry, Republicans lost the “we support law enforcement” card when their Dear Leader instigated an insurrection and then his supporters assaulted and attacked numerous law enforcement officers. Oh, and then they all got pardoned. So who got extra points for their terrible behavior towards law enforcement? You all rewarded that behavior by re-electing him president.

If she doesn’t drop out of the public eye and get some help, we can only hope the voters allow her the time to seek help by not casting a single vote for this obviously unwell person.

Most Congress Critters like Nancy like to fly out of DCA due to its convenience (and its special handling for CC). She is now suing AA which is the only airline flies non-stop from DCA to CHS. Think AA will ban her? If so, then she will be connecting through ATL or EWR(a couple of ‘fun’ places). Of course she could drag herself out to Dulles on the Silver line…….

Writing as a longtime Republican and a lifelong SC-1 resident, Mace is absolutely unhinged and I honestly cannot fathom why people I know continue to vote for her. Setting politics and humor aside, I’ve witnessed her behavior up close and personally, and I genuinely believe she requires professional help. She can flip from outwardly pleasant to completely unglued in an instant, frequently without any real trigger.

Also, David P, did you not watch January 6th? While I’m an old school conservative, the new school of MAGA “conservatism” loves poor behavior towards law enforcement.
If she weren’t constantly creating chaos for those around her (I’m acquainted with several people who have rotated through her office) she would actually warrant sympathy. But this woman isn’t doing right by her district, the Republican Party, or the nation.
