Marriott is out with its first promotion of the year. Registration is required to earn:
- 1,000 bonus points per night
- Double elite qualifying nights on paid stays
Registration is required by April 15 to earn with this offer February 13 – April 29, 2024. Bonus points post within a week of check-out. All hotels participate globally, though Homes & Villas, Executive Apartments, and owner weeks at Marriott timeshares don’t count.
Waikiki Beach Marriott
I value Marriott points at 6/10ths to 65/100ths of a cent apiece. So this is an extra rebate of $6 to $6.50 per night. I sort of shrug my shoulders at 1,000 Marriott points, except to mirror my late grandfather who would say that it’s better than a lokh in kop (hole in the head).
Double elite nights is great, though. And it’s technically an extra 1 elite night per night which is even slightly better, now that there are some hotels that earn only half an elite night per night stayed.
Award nights don’t count, which isn’t great, but at least with this promo Marriott doesn’t game you by starting earning with your second stay during the promotion period.
St. Regis Abu Dhabi
Ultimately you should register even if you don’t expect any Marriott stays during the period, because you won’t remember to go back later and register. So register now, consider it done, and you might earn extra points. Plus even if you’re not currently going for Marriott status, elite nights count towards lifetime status and accruing more of those nights is better. You’ll kick yourself later if you do not register.
Got an error message registering saying I’m not eligible. Wonder why?
error trying to register. Marriott IT on brand.
lokh in kop (hold in the head)
Looks like a typo – should not be “hold” but “hole”
I do not speak Yiddish, but presume this comes from the German “loch im Kopf”
I also could not register but then I remembered I was accruing miles instead of points. I changed to points and then I was able register.
No problem registering, but this is not a rebate. A rebate is when they give me money back. Marriott doesn’t do that when they give us points that they inevitably devalue.
I registered easily through the app. I’m a bit puzzled why Marriott is doing this. They continually devalue their elite statuses but then consciously try to bolster those same elite statuses. The best I can figure is that since Marriott status has so little value outside of Asia, it’s not like they’re giving away much value.
has anyone who was not able to register able to resolve the issue with marriott? i also get an Error message when i trey
@josh – Did you try through the app?
Yes, I tried on the app, but it doesn’t show up in the promotions tab.
@josh – Give it a couple of days to see but I now have to wonder if this was targeted. Sorry bud, I wish I had a better answer.
@Christian It’s (mostly) a marketing program not a loyalty program. Double EQN has very little cost to them.
@Gary thanks for the heads up!
Just wanted to point a weird inconsistency.
Terms say: ‘Earn 1,000 bonus points and 1 bonus Elite Night Credit on each eligible paid night with no earning limits’
But the ‘progress bar’ I got after registering says ’76 nights maximum’
I got it, that’s the duration of the promo so of course that’s the max possible.
