Finally a Good Hotel Promotion: 4X Bonus on IHG Stays

IHG Rewards Club – the program that includes Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Kimpton and related brands – is offering progressively bigger bonuses with each stay booked by December 15 and completed by January 31, 2020. (Registration required.)

Hyatt will give you triple points only at one brand. Hilton will only give triple points to co-brand cardholders. Hyatt’s promotion won’t give you anything on your first stay. Marriott’s promotion is probably so bad they won’t even tell you what it is until you stay.

IHG is giving you something on your first stay, and their promotion maxes out at quadruple points, not double or triple points.

For stays through the end of the year this stacks with IHG’s Accelerate offer.

You earn 40 points per dollar on your fourth and subsequent stays, plus elite bonuses and credit card earning and whatever you earn through Accelerate. Points on each stay are capped at 200,000.

  1. “Hilton will only give triple points to co-brand cardholders.”

Is there anyone who is serious about playing the “game” that does not have a co-brand Hilton card? Because the answer is “no”, the correct way to describe the Hilton Q4 promo is that one earns 3X on every stay, starting with the first stay, which makes it better than the IHG promo…

  2. “Finally” a good hotel promotion? That’s interesting, because I thought the extra couple hundred thousand Hilton points I’ve earned over the past couple months have been pretty nice. Guess I’d better flip to IHG.

  3. Triple Accelerate points in case you achieve your required stays stackable on this 4X Bonus on IHG stays?

Sounds to me, and I hate to say it, another devaluation is on the horizon!

  4. I’ve been earning 40 points per dollar at Hilton since their September promotion started.

    10 base + 10 double + 10 “Hilton credit card” + 10 “diamond bonus”

I don’t even pay with my Hilton card (because I’m booking for work) and they still give me the bonus. So I could be earning 47 pts per dollar on personal hotel stays.

  5. If you are a member of American Airlines & you register your business with IHG rewards & complete a stay at one of their hotels in 90 days after enrollment you will earn 300 Business Extra Ponts. I believe the deadline to register in Nov 19, 2019 but please check if interested. I am staying at a Holiday Inn Express on Nov. 1. A good return on a 95.00$ stay. (The 4 X point promotion was not in effect when I booked my room.)

  6. @Steve S — And for those of us with the HH AMEX Aspire card, we have been earning 54 points per dollar since the September promo started:

    10 base + 10 double + 10 “Hilton credit card” + 10 “diamond bonus” + 14 Aspire = 54x

which is truly lucrative because it means that a single night costing just $100 yields 5,400 points. Since I generally spend more than $100 on award stays, it means that I’ll continuously earn points on both my 8 revenue and 2 award stays that will occur during the promo period 🙂

  7. Just finished my 4th stay and received
    Base Points 1,916
    Elite Bonus Points 1,916
    Up To 4X – 4x for 4th Stay 5748
$191 bill earned 9580 points. This was a business stay but I have a couple personal stays before year end and will use my IHG credit card for even more points.
