The next IHG Rewards Club promotion is up and available for registration.
They’re coming out with ‘Accelerate’ again for stays between September 1 and December 31 you earn even more points. And in some ways it’s my favorite hotel promotion — not as much for its richness as much because it is sort of fun. It’s tough to get a thrill over double points for stays you’re going to make anyway.

IHG Rewards Club has moved to ‘gamified’ promotions with different pieces meant to incentivize behavior among members — with the specifics driven by data about your activity so far, like whether you’re a co-brand credit card holder or an elite or which of their brands you stay with.

Here’s my offer:
I’m not a frequent guest at IHG hotels like Intercontinental (any longer) or Holiday Inn. I value IHG Rewards Club points at 6/10ths of a cent apiece. Like last quarter I’m just being bonused for incrementally more and more stays and without especially rich offers.
On the other hand others are likely to get much more lucrative offers, for instance last quarter some had “36000 points for 1 stay before 30th June in Asia paying with IHG credit card” (via multiple tasks with a single stay and stacking bonuses). And people can likely earn at least twice as many bonus points as I’m being offered.
What’s your offer?
I never get anything particularly interesting. It’s always 2,000 points on several different offers and then some points for doing them all, for a total of 30,000. I would have to stay at three different Holiday Inns and one of them over a weekend to make it work. I don’t see that happening.
My offer is 110,300 points total between seven “challenges.”
Usual offering for me but there is a challenge of staying a total of 7 nights and getting 10,500 in bonus points AND Platinum Elite Status. If you include the other challenges that will be met by staying these 7 nights, I’d get just over 60,000 points and elite status. More if I included the 3 stays in New York challenge in my original 7 nights.
My offer is 68,500 points btwn 7 challenges.
Ugh. Identicall to my current one, requiring at least three stays at a Holiday Inn property including two consecutive weekend nights. A real disappointment. It’s like they’re telling me I can’t get a better promo unless I complete the sucky one.
Mine’s medium interesting, but mostly useless since I don’t have much travel planned after I get back from my trip later this month.
One is for 2,000 pts for applying for an IHG card. What??? I’ve already got the card.
So let’s list them
1,500 for one stay. 9,000 for six nights. 8,400 for two Crowne Plazas. 2,400 for a points & cash stay. 2,000 for the credit card application.
Then additional bonuses – 16,700 for achieving 4 of 5 tasks. 3,000 for staying 2 or more nights in NYC. and 2,500 for one September stay.
I’ve got a possible total of 45,500 pts. Not likely to happen considering my plans. I sure wish it was the current period’s Accelerate, I’d crush it.
Not incentivized. This promo has really gone downhill since the first iteration several years ago.
