News and notes from around the interweb:
- United Passenger Claims She’s Sober, Then Tries To Bite Police Officer At DFW
Police bodycam footage begins with officers approaching a woman who went by the name “India, like on the map” at a security checkpoint at DFW. She was asked to show her ID and boarding pass, but appeared to have neither one.
She explained she was denied boarding the previous day by TSA officers because her Texas state ID had broken in half. …[She] told officers she was flying to “San Francisco in Southern California.”
A police officer approached the United counter to enquire about her ticket status and the United agents were puzzled too. At one point, police asked her where her bag was and she claimed she did not have one, then said she left it in the restroom, then claimed it was in the security line. Turns out it was in the security line, but she had left it in the (men’s) restroom the previous day.

- He did what?
On landing /taxi, this fine gentleman pulled out is recorder and played amazing grace for the other 100 or so people on the plane. I’m quite happy he waited until the end of the flight.
So what’s the weirdest thing to happen to you on a plane? I’ll go first!

- 200,000 people a day fly without REAL ID
- London Heathrow knew the blackout risk before it took down the airport. (HT: @crucker) Oh, and the head of the airport slept in and couldn’t be contacted as everything melted down.
HEATHROW BLACKOUT: The airport has published its review of the outage in March 2025. The report is here: https://t.co/dilpHR4VaW
I'm publishing a few highlights.
Starting by the fact that Heathrow (at technical level) knew it effectively had a "single point of failure."

You lost me at United passenger at DFW.
I flew domestic on May 7 without a REAL ID license using my passport. No problems.
jns: REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID . These cards are marked with a star. State-issued enhanced driver’s license (EDL) .U.S. passport or passport card .DHS Trusted Traveler Cards: (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST). Other acceptable forms of ID as determined by the TSA. The passport is a “real id”.
It sounds to me, having read the article at the link (from people against government-required IDs) is that yes, people fly without readID. But, they fail to address how many of them use another acceptable ID, like passport, etc. I, most recently, used my passport because I had it out for checkin on my international trip. I have realID.
