Lufthansa Is Selling Lie-Flat Business Class To Europe For $1,062 Roundtrip—But It Won’t Last the Day

Lufthansa has business class tickets starting at $1,062 roundtrip, which is about 75% off usual prices. This deal will not be around for long – probably not even hours.

This is available from Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago-O’Hare, Miami, and Philadelphia to numerous places you may wish to go in Europe such as Copenhagen, Milan, Oslo, Rome, Stockholm, Brussels and Amsterdam. (You can also fly into one city and back from another.) Philadelphia transatlantic flights are operated by lower-cost subsidiary Discover Airlines.

Roughly speaking this seems to be available for travel starting in July and running through February, according to Alberto Rivera who reports on an alert sent out by Thrifty Traveler about the deal.

Just head to Google Flights and plug in your preferred cities and dates.

If you end of positioning for this deal, you may wish to cross the Atlantic on the Chicago – Munich flight operated by an Airbus A350 for Lufthansa’s Allegris business class.

I’d note that this sale is so good Lufthansa may regret offering it – and that if seller’s remorse kicks in they might choose not to honor the tickets. And while DOT rules are that an airline cancelling booked tickets claiming mistake has to cover any costs passengers have incurred in reliance on the booking, it’s not yet clear what position on enforcement of this the new administration will take. So I’d recommend waiting a bit before making non-changeable and costly plans predicated on traveling with these flights.

  1. Who the heck is Discover Airlines? European airline flights into Philadelphia a rare, and I’ve heard nothing about this Lufthansa announcement.
Also, you are parsing your words, but this seems almost certainly a pricing mistake on lufthansa’s part.

  2. some sources say that outbound travel from Germany to the US has declined more than other major hubs – CDG, AMS and LHR – potentially to a higher degree than from Canada.

if so, these sales are not surprising

  3. Demand for TATL flights is cratering as the United States insults the world, and thinks “America First” is a thing. It’s not. Within a few weeks, America will be in a deep recession and smacked hard with stagflation. It has fully earned it.

  4. @Chopsticks, Discover Airlines is Lufthansa’s low cost subsidiary. Used to be Germanwings, and then changed its name to Eurowings after the flight 9525 pilot murder suicide 10 years ago, then ultimately dropped that name for Discover. Total rebranding to bury that incident I suppose.

  5. In order ti book you need to book it through edreams.com. go read reviews people….. good luck

  6. yeah, the huge price discrepancy between the eDreams price and all the other channels (which are the “normal” $5K round trip) makes me think there’s no chance

  7. @lavanderialarry — that may be what you wish will happen, but at least for the US airlines, it has not happened. Just this week, Delta’s CEO stated that international premium travel was the strongest part of his business now. He was also largely unconcerned about lower, and thought American travelers would fill any empty seats created by reduced European demand. Obviously, a foreign airline would not be this lucky.
@Michael — thanks for telling me who Discover Airlines is. This seems like a very low-key launch, Philadelphia would not seem an intuitive destination for a low fare German airline.

  8. No such fares from IAD I could find, but I did get some saver awards on LH a few months ago for May, and since I babysit them, I see the loads still seem light.

  9. The Discover Airlines business product IS NOT the same as Lufthansa.
Your pictures on here are LH Allegris NOT Discover Airlines

  10. What I want to know is why I never get your emails until the following day. Whatever the reason, please keep in mind that people often don’t see them until after what you’re talking about is over.

  11. lavanderialarry . . . has your crystal ball gone WOXOF or is it some confirmation bias being shared here?

  12. America First is working for the travelling public! We are going to Make Germany Great Again next!
