Marriott is Giving Away a Trip to the Superbowl to Get You to Use Their Mobile App

Through January 10 if you use the Marriott Mobile app and make a request within your reservation you’ll be entered to win a trip to the Superbowl. You can enter one time per reservation each day.

You can also enter by mail:

[H]and print your name, Marriott Rewards number, full address, city, state/province, zip/postal code, country, telephone number, date of birth, and email address on a plain 3″ x 5″ piece of paper, insert it into an envelope, affix sufficient postage and mail it to: #AppYourService Mobile Request Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 7735 Melville, NY 11775-7735 USA, to receive an entry into the Sweepstakes.

Entries must be hand-addressed, postmarked by January 10, 2017 and received by January 17, 2017 to be eligible for the Sweepstakes random drawing. Mechanically reproduced or photocopied mailed entries are automatically void. Incomplete and illegible entries are void. Limit one (1) mailed entry per envelope.

They’ll draw a winner January 18 who will receive:

  • A 4-day/3-night trip to Houston for Super Bowl LI
  • The trip includes the winner and one travel companion, for February 3-6 travel
  • 3 nights hotel and 2 airline tickets
  • 2 suite tickets to the Superbowl
  • $750

They estimate the retail value of the prize at $6000, so you’ll certainly be getting a 1099 form if you win but don’t forget that you can dispute the value of a prize for tax purposes.

If you’re staying at Marriott soon anyway, it makes sense to use their mobile app, they suggest “you can chat directly with the hotel you are staying at (before, during and after) to request check in/out times, reservations at on-property restaurants, sundries, extra towels, etc” so I think every day you need to separately ask for extra towels, maybe extra coffee, a tootbrush, or some more shampoo.

  1. Hah. If you are bored, make a bunch of reservations in the future. Make a comment everyday for each reservation. At end of contest, cancel all reservations. Totally gameable.
