News and notes from around the interweb:
- Very Japanese:
Hokkaido Railway Company apologizes for driver reading a book prior to departure. What’s the issue here?
byu/frozenpandaman intransit - Somehow I don’t think I ever saw the Port Authority docs approving Newark lounges for British Airways, Air France and La Compagnie. (pdf)
- Bilt will start offering points for on-time mortgage payments for folks with UWM mortgages in early 2026. Nothing really new here – Bilt has been saying there would be points for mortgages coming, and UWM invested $100 million in Bilt several months ago – other than the rough timing of early next year.
We don’t yet know how many points or if/when we’ll see this expand to other lenders/servicers. But it doesn’t sound as lucrative as Bilt is currently for rent payments. Still, I guess it means that miles for paying your mortgage is getting closer (Mesa offers you points each month for having a mortgage, regardless of whether or not you pay it, which is a little bit weird but also makes sense – they’re giving you bonus points because homeowners are good customers).
- A long way to go to premium.
