“Sit Yourself Down”: 6’6 Man Stops Passenger Who Twice Escaped Restraints After Racist Rampage

A Breeze Airways A220 took off from Norfolk, Virginia, bound for Los Angeles on Wednesday. About four hours into the journey, a 46‑year‑old L.A. man started waving his skateboard, spewing racial slurs, targeting passengers of color.

The crew slapped restraints on him. Twice. He broke free both times. The second time, a 6’6″ ex-football player on the flight manhandled him back down like a toddler into a car seat. “Sit your ass down,” he apparently told the man,

@mysaltylove_ Replying to @House Ok so here’s the OG video w/out the sound over it. Everyone needed to hear “SITCHOASSDOWN CUH!” #jet2holiday #breezeairways #MX704 ORF TO LAX #mysaltylove ♬ original sound – ⭕️MYSALTYLOVE⭕️

The flight diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado, where local police took the man into custody. A flight attendant and passenger were treated for minor injuries.

Breeze Airways issued the usual “crew and guest well-being is our top priority” statement. Charges against the man will be handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Colorado.

We’ve seen a passenger booted for racist texts and even one who defecated on a drink cart and blamed Portugal’s President. But the Breeze Airways incident is ultimately special because it combines racially-motivated aggression, broken restraints, an actual physical takedown, and a flight diversion all in one narrative arc.

  1. “The man was drunk” says the news person. Another way of excusing pathetic behavior. I loved how the big man literally picked him up and sat him down. You could see the fear in the guy’s face being carried away. I applaud the big guy for making his point: sit down and shut up or the next time won’t be so nice.

  2. Ah, peak-VFTW content! An onboard fight, race, etc. See, folks, not always on Spirit. Good news, @George Romey, they pressed charges. Lemme guess, you’d’ve preferred less due process, more instant, forever no-fly-list?

  3. Middle America really should not be allowed to travel by any means other than by foot or by bus.

  4. Hey @LadyOlives: since when is LA part of middle America? The offender lives in Los Angeles. So, perhaps what you really meant is that Angelinos shouldn’t be allowed to travel by any means other than by foot or by bus? They did vote in an idiot as mayor, so I’m inclined to agree with your statement as far as where the racist perp is from.

  5. @AngryFlier & @LadyOlives — Easy, you two. There’s plenty of bigots all over. And, no, neither LA nor Kansas is the problem; it’s the individual jabroni to blame. No need to disparage entire cities or other groups of peoples.

  6. And a liberal DA will drop the charges or a liberal judge will give him probation. Of course no to little bail. Rinse and repeat.

  7. Most people do not realize college and pro lineman can lift #300 over their heads. This guy is just a squishy blocking dummy. Kudos for the classy big guy (in an uncomfortable seat) who did not take his pain out on this dirt bag.
Airlines should use nylon cuffs- you can’t break free without cutting off your hands

  8. @George Romey — For once, a perp is arrested and charged, yet, you’re still pessimistic. It seems nothing will ever be ‘good enough’ for you.

And great job attempting to make this incident about your perceived political opponents. If this is indeed handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office (federal), recall that it is a subagency of the DOJ, under #45/47 (has he gone ‘soft’ on crime?)

Even if it were a state issue, that particular DA is a republican.

However, one thing we haven’t considered is that this perp was dishing out “racial slurs, targeting passengers of color.” So, perhaps, Republicans will find sympathy with him (you know, since their views likely align), regardless of his LA residency. How conflicting for them.

  9. The justice system shouldn’t be based on party affiliation or racial animus… like, an impartial court should reach a similar conclusion in accordance with the law and the facts of that particular case, regardless… but, hey, it sure is easier just to vilify ‘liberals,’ isn’t it?

  10. @1990 I watch enough arrest videos (they’re quite entertaining, far better than the crap being put out by Hollywood) and it’s always person fights cops, assaults cops. Many of these take place in airports/airplanes. Even in Florida, and especially Florida, it’s the same story. DA drops all charges or Judge gives probation. Low or no cash bail. Even King DeSantis seems disinterested that lowlifes can assault police officers and be treated like jay walkers.

  11. @George Romey — I’d be careful to ascribe ‘always’ to anything, especially something like this.

And, I’ve certainly noticed an up-tick in the use and abuse of the serious but often false accusation of ‘assault,’ lately, definitely coming from right-wing media and officials. You know, it’s a lot easier to just claim someone else assaulted you, then to settle a dispute or disagreement calmly and civilly.

As for supporting law enforcement, I’m not a ‘defund the police’ type, so not my problem. But, uh, why isn’t #45/47 sending the National Guard into the areas where the actual crimes occur; you know, instead of photo-ops with Humvees at Washington Monument or the Capitol, which has never really had any issues, other than on… January 6, 2021, or maybe the British burning D.C. on August 24, 1814…

I just find a lot of your gripes on here to be disingenuous at best. You’re still more sane than the true wackos like @Walter Barry and @Andy S… I think those guys are literally on Putin’s payroll.

  12. “Airplane passengers can be charged with federal crimes when they disrupt a flight, which carries a $37,000 civil fine for each violation and felony charges that carry up to 20 years in prison. (They’re never State Crimes). Most aircraft-related offenses will usually be prosecuted under a federal statute listed in 49 U.S. Code Chapter 465. The federal sentencing guidelines impose mandatory minimum sentences for many of the offenses on board an aircraft. Interference with crew members includes a maximum of 20 years, but the penalties will increase if a dangerous weapon is used; Threats or false information includes a maximum sentence of five years.” (Plea bargains appear to be at the bottom end of the Sentencing Guidelines. I agree, those need to change.)

  13. Aw, Tony – Why do you lie? The moron is from California, the land of fruits and nuts.

  14. Nothing in the story indicates anyone’s partisanship. Regardless, you can both be a bigot and be on either ‘team,’ regardless of where you reside. Or, you can be a decent person, red, blue, California, Texas, whatever.

Because @Tony used the ‘T’ word, his comment was delayed; @David R. Miller, unless you are also trolling, you should know better. Or, are you the same guy, just using different aliases?

  15. @ David R. Miller, Poor Tony has TDS and President Trump lives rent free in his head.
Perhaps he’s another sheeple brainwashed by the failing Fake News Media.

This was a drunk middle aged man with a skate board being disruptive on a flight.
Let’s put this dumba*s on the No Fly List for 15 years.
After 15 years we can give him another chance.

  16. August 14 – I am not the “same guy” – what I am is a person who comprehends reality and speaks the truth, something delusional, brainwashed liberals have no concept of.

  17. Nicely done by the airline and the man helping the FA. Perhaps airlines should look into better quality restraints though.

  18. OnePatrat77 is freaking hilarious.
“lives rent free in your mind”
    “TDS”
    “brainwashed sheeple”
Do you only speak in incel lingo?
(btw I have about a trillion things living rent free in my mind. Is your mind always just blank, waiting for someone to apply for space?”)

  19. Fascinating how so many posts gloss over the racist tropes by this POS. Fascinating how a white dude behaving badly get twisted to liberals letting him off the hook. Unsurprising how people such narrow-minded, hate-filled people who voted for a corrupt rapist can TRY to twist any narrative to fit their agenda.

You’re not convincing anyone of anything…other than your own bias and racism.

  20. Disgusting how the people who follow this turn everything into political which has nothing to do with the article. They feel it’s necessary to always turn it that way… like they have nothing better to do then sit their pointless views!!
