In the fall Cathay Pacific announced that their Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s would be getting high speed internet. It turns out the retrofit of 777s also includes adding seats to coach. Cathay is going 10-abreast with slim seats in economy.
New 60,000 Mile Cathay Pacific Visa Signup Offer

From August through October there was a 50,000 mile signup bonus offer for the Cathay Pacific Visa. That’s double the previous offer.
Through June 30 they’re offering an initial bonus up to 60,000 miles.
Cathay Pacific Criticized for Waiving Change Fees So Passengers Can Vote

Cathay Pacific is coming under criticism by Malaysia’s deputy minister for home affairs and internal security.
The airline is “offering free ticket changes for Malaysians returning home to vote.” Malaysia is scheduling an election. The date isn’t yet known, but could come as soon as the end of April. Malaysia by the way just pushed through redistricting this month.
Cathay Pacific Flight Attendants Will Soon Be Allowed to Wear Pants

Cathay Pacific will give uniformed staff the option of wearing pants for the first time. This required extensive talks between the airline and its flight attendants union.
Clearly the role of the flight attendant has changed over time and societal attitudes have changed too. The very first airline flight attendant was hired by United Airlines as an onboard nurse. That persona morphed into a hypersexualized one….

A year ago I wrote that Cathay Pacific planned a new first class product for their Boeing 777-9s on order.
Cathay wasn’t sure whether the new first class will feature enclosed suites, because according to their research passengers like a ‘society’ element (see and be seen) or how many seats the cabin would feature.
