A Spirit Airlines flight from Houston to Minneapolis diverted to Rochester, Minnesota, because of a medical emergency. A man onboard slipped into a coma during the flight.

After landing one woman “marched up and down the aisle and launched a profanity-laced and threatening tirade.” Things got so bad that “at least one flight attendant was in tears after the incident and that other crew members handed out tissues to passengers who were crying.”

Jun 07 2018

Passengers on a delayed Spirit Airlines flight departing Chicago O’Hare last month — sitting on the ground with inoperative air conditioning, presumably no working auxiliary power unit, “babies are crying, everyone is moody” — were treated to a flight attendant dropping some serious life advice.

He asks passengers to share their codine, lithium, quaaludes, and other drugs with their seat opponent — but if it’s a child sitting next to them “do a moral inventory, or just do like my mom used to, she broke it in half and gave it to me.”

You’re Getting Hosed By the Big Airlines In the New FAA Bill and You Don’t Even Know It

Apr 27 2018

I wrote the other day that the draft FAA bill being debate by the House included criminalizing passenger speech. If you ‘verbally assault’ an airline employee, you probably shouldn’t be allowed to fly, but this law will raise the stakes with law enforcement too.

That’s not all that’s in the bill that passed the House and now moves on to the Senate.

Is Low Cost Carrier Allegiant Unsafe to Fly?

Apr 16 2018

Allegiant is an ultra low cost carrier with a bit of a different business model than Spirit or Frontier. They take Hall of Fame right fielder Wee Willie Keeler’s admonition to “hit ’em where they ain’t” seriously. If you need to fly from Mesa, Arizona to Pasco, Washington at 1 p.m. on a Tuesday they’re your airline. They’re cheap and they fly non-daily leisure routes no one else does.

Someone Left Their Emotional Support Goldfish Behind at TSA

Unlike Spirit Airlines the TSA apparently doesn’t require flushing emotional support animals down the toilet. Leaving behind the goldfish may have been done in hopes of finding them a new home if the passenger was flying United or Delta amidst their crackdown.

Want I want to know though is how this passenger managed to get the goldfish through the checkpoint in the first place in more than 3 ounces of water that would have been necessary to keep them alive.

Feb 19 2018

The biggest aviation market in the world – by far – is the U.S., based on the number of departing seats. So this isn’t just domestic flights, it’s domestic flights plus outbound international flights as well. Here are the top 10.

The EU as a whole is roughly comparable to the Chinese market. The UK as a whole is the biggest aviation market in Europe, though their former colony India is a bigger market still.

Feb 08 2018

A college student says that Spirit Airlines told her when she made her flight reservation that she could bring her emotional support hamster named Pebbles onboard the plane. She bought Pebbles after a golf ball-sized lump developed on her neck and led to a cancer scare.

She traveled to have the growth removed, and brought her hamster with her. Spirit acknowledges that their agent told the woman this would be ok. …
