Today you can buy Wyndham Rewards points at a cost of $11 per 1000 (so 1.1 cents per point). They limit you to purchasing just 5000 points per year.
Starting tomorrow they’re increasing the amount of points you can buy to 10,000 but also raising the price to $13 per 1000 (1.3 cents per point).
Wyndham charges 15,000 points per night per room redemption regardless of hotel. Wyndham also offers cash and points (“Go Fast”) at 3000 points plus a varying cash co-pay per night. And they let you redeem at vacation ownership properties and private homes for 15,000 points per night per bedroom.

With their announced deal to purchase of La Quinta it may have been Joe Brancatelli who said they’re on a quest to own every bad hotel in America.
Neither 5000 nor 10,000 points purchased is a lot. Given the redemption options at vacation ownership properties I regret not holding a grandfathered Wyndham Rewards Visa that earns 2 points per dollar on all spend.
I like the increase in allowable points purchase, I wish it was higher. I don’t like the price increase, though I’m glad it’s as modest as it is.
I think I read in WSJ last week that they were talks of splitting in 2, with one half taking the vacation business and the other part getting the hotels. No mention what that might mean for the rewards program, but there are not a lot of good pickings on the hotel side of the business.
Best Western still charges a penny each, speaking of management groups that put up with garbage properties
I didn’t know that Caesar’s Entertainment hotels could be booked with Wyndham points until recently. So basically, you can buy any room at Caesar’s Palace, Nobu Hotel or Cromwell (which regularly go for $300+/nt on the weekends for $165. Not a bad deal.
Still able to buy 5,000 at 1.1 ($55) as of today, 2.13!
I put my utility payments on this card for monthly double points (a category I can’t otherwise get a bonus on any other card).
Between that; triple bonus spend opportunities offered quarterly (targeted) by the card issuer Barclay (this qtr is restaurants, movie theaters, & dpt stores); and hotel spend challenges offered by Wyndham (current one is 15k points); it’s fairly easy to rack up WRs. Good thing, too, because they are blazing exciting trails with their European cottages.com offerings using points.
Wyndham owns RCI, so their timeshare offerings are the largest & most varied. Check out extraholidays.com for amazing cash deals on last-minute timeshare inventory. 2-3 br’s can go for $100/night on very nice properties, perfect for last-minute family vacays.
I just want to purchase 1,000 points, now, so I may get a room tonight at the Super 8 Hotel in Pennsville,NJ 08070. Please show me the way to purchasing these 1,000 points. Thank you. Member#:166883386D. Member since: 03/2018.
