We Can All Relax: British Airways is Still a Transfer Partner of American Express Membership Rewards

I receive compensation for content and many links on this blog. Citibank is an advertising partner of this site, as is American Express, Chase, Barclays and Capital One. British Airways wasn’t showing up as an American Express Membership Rewards transfer option on the program’s list of transfer partners.

Several readers emailed about this. The disappearance was also reported at Monkey Miles and at MilesTalk.

However,

  • I see that it is already back

  • And talking to American Express it appears there was an issue with transfers being made on the website, so the option was removed briefly online.

  • It remained an option to transfer by phone.

There doesn’t appear to be any disturbance in the American Express – British Airways relationship. British Airways remains a transfer partner of both American Express and Chase.

Of course only the British Airways Visa Signature® Card – which has an initial bonus of up to 100,000 Avios – will give you up to $600 in statement credits each year for British Airways flight taxes and fees when you charge those to the card (3 credits a year up to $200 each): $200 for a reward flight in business or first, $100 for a reward flight in economy or premium economy.
