News and notes from around the interweb:
- The world’s largest plane may be grounded after a single flight
- Air France may have served tuna sandwiches with listeria No US flights appear to have been affected, and there are no reports of customers getting sick.
Air France has issued an urgent warning after the potentially deadly Listeria bacteria was discovered in a sandwich served onboard flights to several international destinations. Routine quality checks revealed that tuna sandwiches which were available from a self-serve buffet in Air France’s Economy and Premium Economy cabin’s between 21st and 24th May might have been contaminated with listeria – a bacteria that can cause a rare infection known as Listeriosis.
- British Airways Boeing 747 to Washington Dulles turned around — after a flight attendant knocked himself unconscious
- San Jose, Costa Rica airport has a lounge that accepts Amex — but Amex apparently doesn’t know about it
- Airbus wants airlines to push back against proposed US tariffs and help avert a trade war. Sadly Peter Navarro has been ascendant, tanking the stock market and threatening the world economy.
- Singapore Airlines will offer flat beds in business class on all routes by the end of 2020 even short haul on narrowbody aircraft. That’s because they’re integrating SilkAir into the Singapore Airlines brand, and want to offer a consistent product.
- KLM’s new business class lounge in Amsterdam has a restaurant you pay to eat at
Haven’t these people ever seen Airplane? DON’T EAT THE FISH.
The tariffs are just a negotiating ploy. Obviously they are not good for the economy like my term, but it’s one of the few options to push back against China, and to get Mexico to take border security seriously. Airbus doesn’t get a say in the matter.
The SJO BAC lounge used to be the Avianca lounge, but it’s been recently rebranded. I don’t know why the author says AmEx doesn’t know about it, it’s on their website at https://global.americanexpress.com/lounge-access/the-platinum-card/SJO (perhaps the phone operator’s systems were only showing it as the old name???)
“Routine quality checks revealed that tuna sandwiches which were available from a self-serve buffet in Air France’s Economy and Premium Economy cabin’s between 21st and 24th May might have been contaminated with listeria – a bacteria that can cause a rare infection known as Listeriosis.” Maybe this is an Air France new revenue enhancing tactic to encourage passengers to fly “first class” instead of Premium Economy or Economy.” Now, if you don’t pay the premium for first class dining, you might get Listeriosis with the painful symptoms of fever, stiff neck, confusion, weakness, and vomiting, sometimes preceded by diarrhea.
@Luke H, those lounges are not the BAC Credomatic lounge which is at Gate 17 not Gate 5.
