Last year I attended the launch party for Star Alliance member EVA Air’s new Houston service and the inauguration of their Hello Kitty Shining Star jet.
The Hello Kitty-ization of these EVA Air planes is amazing from the meals down to the toilet paper in the lavs.
Details run throughout the cabin, with as much thought going into the coach cabin as business class.
Here’s the Complete Guide to the Hello Kitty Jet Experience.
There were rumors that the EVA Air contract with Sanrio had not been renewed and thus that the Hello Kitty concept would disappear from the fleet. However that doesn’t seem to be the case because EVA took delivery of another Hello Kitty plane, its first narrowbody.

The gudetama Jet Comfort Flight is an Airbus A321-200 configured for 184 passengers, eight in Business Class and 176 in Economy. It is EVA’s first specially painted A321.
…we chose superstar gudetama to decorate our fleet. Different from the sweet image of Hello Kitty, gudetama symbolizes a laid-back, relaxed style of travel.
…Born in 2013, gudetama is an egg with arms and legs and one of Sanrio’s youngest and most popular characters. Cute and easy-going, gudetama is always sunny-side-up on EVA’s aircraft. The new livery captures the relaxed spirit of the bright yellow gudetama as he leisurely packs sunglasses, camera, hat and bacon into his bag, taking just one little break before he flies away on a memorable holiday. As he lazily brightens the length of the plane, he also decorates interiors and service items, creating a relaxing flying experience inside and out.
The new specially configured Airbus A321 will initially fly
- Taipei Taoyuan – Tokyo Narita, 3:20pm – 7:20pm, EVA Air BR196
- Tokyo Narita – Taipei Taoyuan, 8:20pm – 11:25pm, EVA Air BR195
I don’t like this one. I definitely like Hello Kitty theme jet better! Thanks for your updates of Hello Kitty jet that is only on here
