Hyatt is making a number of aggressive offers to bring business into their hotels, from rate discounts to added benefits on stays to bonus points. In addition to the promotion, discount and breakfast offers they’re currently running they’ve announced three new offers that run through October 8: up to a 25% rebate on award stays, free parking on award stays, and triple points on hotel dining when you’re not saying at the hotel.

Rebates On Awards Through October 8

Traditionally each year Hyatt runs an award rebate for cardmembers of their credit card (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and in 2015). It’s generally been a 10% rebate, but when first introduced was 20%.

This year they’re offering a richer rebate than in the past for redemptions consumed over a three month period, July 8 – October 8, 2020.

• All members receive a 15% rebate on redemptions
  
• World Of Hyatt Credit Card and Hyatt Credit Card cardmembers receive an additional 10% rebate, for a total of 25% back

Registration is required by September 1 (register here if you don’t have their co-brand card, register here if you do have their card).

Hyatt’s current promotion gives elite members 2500 back with their first stay, even if it’s an award stay. A Hyatt credit card cardmember, booking a category 1 redemption for 5000 points during the rebate period, would actually receive 3750 points making their night cost 1250 points net.

Rebate should post 6-8 weeks after points have been spent, and a maximum of 30,000 points per transaction can be earned with each rebate (a Hyatt member with the credit card can earn 30,000 points for their 15% rebate and 30,000 points for their cardmember 10% rebate on the same redemption transaction). Points transfers to airlines aren’t eligible for the rebate.

Free Parking Included On All Award Stays Through October 8

All free night awards and cash and point awards come with parking for stays July 8 through October 8, 2020 – as long as parking is something that can normally be charged to the guest room. And since free parking on award stays is normally a benefit for Globalist elite members already, they’ll get free parking on paid stays, too, during the promotion period.

And in a move that really surprises me, valet parking is included: “If both valet and self-parking are offered by the applicable hotel or resort, benefit is valid for either.”

Hyatt Residence Club (timeshare) resorts, and hotels where you can spend points that aren’t actually Hyatts – M life and Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties – aren’t participating, naturally.

Time to take 25% off an all-inclusive stay at the Alila Ventana Big Sur and park that ’66 Cobra after a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway – if you can find award availability.

Triple Points On Hotel Dining When Not Staying On Property

There are some Hyatt properties where the food is just outstanding, although many hotels are offering dining in a modified fashion currently. Among my favorites during normal times are Straits Kitchen at the Grand Hyatt Singapore, New York Grill at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, and Blue Duck Tavern at the Park Hyatt DC. China House at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai is a standout as well.

For the past nine years you’ve been able to earn points at Hyatt hotel restaurants when not staying as a guest. From July 8 through October 8, 2020 Hyatt is offering triple points for dine-in, takeout or delivery at participating Hyatt property restaurants. And that’s on top of points you earn spending on your credit card to pay for food.

No registration is required for triple points at restaurants when not staying on property, and triple points don’t apply to food and beverage charged to a hotel folio. Up to 100,000 bonus points can be earned per transaction with this offer. If you have really expensive meals, get the restaurant to break it up into multiple transactions when you give them your World of Hyatt number.

Unfortunately though Hyatt doesn’t offer guidance on which restaurants are participating and simply offers, “please ask outlet associates about participation.”

Hyatt Is Offering A Lot Of Value For Anyone Traveling

Along with Hyatt’s new 20% off rate with breakfast, adding free parking on award stays (and free parking for Globalists on paid stays) means members can get a lot of value on their nights right now and that’s even before factoring in promotions.

I love the aggressiveness. Hyatt is pushing levers on a variety of fronts to put heads in beds and encourage activity with the loyalty program and its partners.

• Along with running a triple points promotion
  
• And extending their offer of double the elite qualifying nights for new World Of Hyatt Credit Card cardmembers who apply this month and next.

Marriott, in contrast, promised to honor how high and low reward pricing is supposed to work, for a two week booking window that’s now over, for stays in July only. (Hyatt put off their peak/off peak devaluation until next year.) Marriott is also only allowing reservation changes on new prepaid bookings through September 30.
